Picks To Click

Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

In this week’s Hotlist, Prep Baseball Report state directors highlight their picks to click. Some are draft prospects that could climb the rankings this spring, some are underclassmen showing improvements and others are uncommitted players.

Keaton Carattini, RHP, La Costa Canyon HS, CA (2018)
A Michigan recruit, Carattini stands at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds with squared shoulders, long limbs and a lean, muscular physique. In his first start, he looked to be in midseason form, making quick work of opponents. He worked off an 86-89 mph fastball, touching 90, which shows some cutting action. He has a sweeping curveball with 10/4 shape sitting 73-75 and uses it as an out pitch. The second time through the lineup, Carattini introduced his slider, which has tight, sweeping action at 81-83. He pitches with a high-3/4 slot and maintains his arm speed on everything. If his velocity ticks up at all during the spring, he could face a decision between college and pro ball.
