Player Spotlight: Sayre 2016 OF Aidan Elias

Aidan Elias is a 6-foot-2, 170-pound OF from Sayre High School who attended two winter events and impressed at both.

The Class of 2016 right-handed hitter works from an open stance and shows a loose and easy swing that generates some current gap-to-gap power. Elias shows the ability to consistently square the baseball in batting practice and keeps his hands inside the ball well on inner-half pitches. With significant room to add strength to his frame, Elias should continue to develop the power part of his offensive game over the next few years. His 6.80 60-yard speed translates well to the field as he also recorded a home to first base time of 4.47 seconds.

Defensively, Elias shows a good combination of speed and arm strength. He plays through the ball well with good athleticism and shows 86 mph arm strength with carry.

Elias also proved to be a pitcher to keep an eye on as well. At 6-foot-2, 170-pounds, he has a good pitcher’s frame that projects well. Working through a high-3/4 arm slot, his arm is loose and quick with minimal effort in his delivery. Elias’ fastball sits 81-83 mph, and he shows feel for his 66-70 mph curveball and 74-76 mph changeup. He shows the ability to throw all three pitches for strikes and projects to add additional velocity.

Elias will be participating in the PBR Kentucky Top Prospect Games Event on June 16-17 at Western Kentucky University.
