Preseason Preview: Green County HS

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

The Green County Dragons completed their 2012 season with an 18-18 record, advancing out of the 18th district before losing in the 1st round of the 5th region tournament to Central Hardin.  The Dragons return a ton of experience from last season’s team, returning 8 starters and 7 pitchers who logged varsity innings for Coach Rick Davis.

The Dragons offense will rely heavily on several players who had solid performances in 2012.  Senior INF Austin Walley (.315), sophomore INF/OF Colton Bush (.361, good speed), sophomore OF/RHP Levi Murphy (.305), and sophomore OF/LHP Cody Houk (.315) will be expected to produce runs for Green County this spring.

The pitching staff returns one of the top pitchers in the state in senior Brennen Milby.  The 6-foot-2 RHP (ranked No.7 in our class of 2013 rankings) has signed to continue his baseball career with Ohio State University and runs his fastball up into the low 90s.  Milby threw 3 no-hitters as a junior last season, and has 6 in his career at Green County.

With Milby on the mound, and several experienced players returning, this Green County squad could be a dangerous team come tournament time in the 5th region this spring.
