Team Kentucky Announces PBR Future Games Roster

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

After months of scouting games and seeing players at events, Team Kentucky's roster is set for the Prep Baseball Report Future Games and loaded with many of the top uncommitted 2016 prospects in the state.

Team Kentucky is looking for its first win in the event after last year's inaugural team went 0-3 with losses to Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana.

In its fourth year, the Prep Baseball Report Future Games, powered by Under Armour, features the top uncommitted rising juniors in our Prep Baseball Report coverage states. This year’s Future Games is set for July 31-August 2, and will be held at the state-of-the-art Grand Park Baseball Complex in Westfield, IN. This year’s event is even more loaded than ever, and will have individually selected teams from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Kansas, and an at-large Stars team that is comprised of players from several other states. The Prep Baseball Report Future Games has evolved into one of the summer’s most heavily scouted events.

Throughout the course of the next 10 days leading up to the event, we will highlight all the players on the roster.  Here is a quick snapshot of the Team Kentucky roster.

Three right-handers are ranked in the top ten in Kentucky's 2016 Class, and each will run their fastball into the upper 80's.  Easton McGee (Hopkinsville HS), the No.1 ranked prospect in Kentucky's 2016 class, headlines the list along with Cameron Planck (Rowan County HS) and Hunter Sullivan (Elizabethtown HS).  Griffin McLarty (Oldham County HS), Tyler Horsley (Ballard HS), and one of the top arms in the 2017 class, Jack Schneider (Daviess County HS), round out the RHP's on the staff.  The left-handers consist of a pair of projectable prospects in Andrew Hayden (Daviess County HS) and Luke Brown (Murray HS) who both topped out in the mid-80's at the Top Prospect Games last month.  Two-way players Logan Wyatt and Garrett Wilson may also see an inning on the mound as well.

The top two-ranked catchers in Kentucky's 2016 class will handle the duties behind the plate in Bryan Chilton (Christian County HS) and Vincent Boils (Southwestern HS).  Both players bring solid defensive skills and good arm strength.  Chilton set a PBR Kentucky record last month with 82 mph arm strength from the crouch.

middle infield

Left-handed hitters Ray Zuberer (Owensboro Catholic HS), Keegan Breese (McCracken County HS), and Hunter Childress (Nelson County HS), and right-handed hitter Justin Rouse (Central Hardin HS) will anchor the middle of the defense.  All four had standout seasons for their respective high school teams and have carried that over to the summer season.

corner infield

A trio of power-hitting corner infielders will take the field for Team Kentucky.  Left-handed hitting third baseman Logan Wyatt (North Bullitt HS) and right-handed hitting third baseman Trevor Howard (Southwestern HS), both ranked in the top 10 in Kentucky's 2016 class, will handle the hot corner duties.  CJ Bush (Lexington Catholic HS) will handle most of the first base duties.

The outfield will feature plenty of speed and arm strength.  Left-handed hitters Cam Hill (Scott County HS) and Tucker Greer (West Jessamine HS), and right-handed hitters Luke Brown (Murray HS), Brett Slusher (Beechwood HS), and Garrett Wilson (Bullitt East HS) will patrol the outfield.  Hill, one of two 2017 players on the roster, set a PBR Kentucky record with 93 mph arm strength last month.  Wilson set a PBR Kentucky record with a 6.54-second 60 yard dash last Tuesday at the PBR Kentucky College Prospect Showcase.
