The 2016 PBR Kentucky Unsigned Senior Games were held on Sunday, October 2 at Beechwood High School and brought some of the most talented uncommitted 2017 graduates together in one place.  Below are the evaluations from each of the position players that competed in the event for the Royal Team.

Outfielders

Santrel Farmer, OF, Bardstown, 2017
60 Time: 6.72, Position Velocity:  OF-91, Exit Velocity: 90
5-foot-10, 160-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and slightly open stance, uses an abbreviated leg kick with a longer stride and a slight push back of the knob to get loaded, lower half fires well and helps create his very good bat speed, line drive approach possesses some gap-to-gap power potential, quick-twitch athlete.  Defensively, showed soft hands and fluid footwork, played through the ball athletically and uses a clean exchange into a long arm action through a high ¾ slot to produce very strong throws with life. Recorded a single and a stolen base in game play.

Jaxson Smith, OF, South Warren, 2017
60 Time: 7.10, Position Velocity:  OF-81, Exit Velocity: 91
6-foot-4, 205-pound, LHH hits from a wider stance with good balance, uses a no-stride approach where he simply lifts his heel and puts it right back down with some movement back of his hands to get loaded, stays balanced and showed good bat speed with a mostly flat bat path, power approach shows some pop with fluidity, hit a HR to RF in his round of BP.  Defensively, moves athletically for a his size and plays through the ball with confidence, good hands and footwork, long arm action through a high ¾ slot, decent accuracy and strength behind his throws. Recorded a single and smoked a ball to the CF in game play. Committed to Kentucky Wesleyan following the event.

Chase Robinson, OF/RHP, Madison Southern, 2017
60 Time: 7.25, Position Velocity:  OF-82, Exit Velocity: 86
6-foot-2, 170-pound, RHH hits from a balanced stance and uses a short stride with a slight lowering and subtle movement back to get loaded, pretty good timing, good bat speed is seen through a mostly flat bat path, line drive approach allows him to hit the ball where it’s pitched, finds the barrel.  Defensively, uses his length and athleticism to his advantage, plays through the ball well with soft hands and fluid footwork, clean exchange, long arm action from over-the-top produced strong and fairly accurate throws with good carry.

Matthew Coolidge, OF, Elizabethtown, 2017
60 Time: 6.88, Position Velocity:  OF-78, Exit Velocity: 88
5-foot-8, 155-pound, RHH hits from a balanced stance, uses a short and sometimes early stride with very slight hand movement to get loaded, showed good balance throughout his swing with a solid lower half, bat path is short through the zone and creates good bat speed, showed a line drive approach throughout his round of BP.  Defensively, plays athletically in the outfield with good hands and footwork while playing through the ball with confidence, uses a long arm action through a high ¾ release on strong and mostly accurate throws. Recorded one of the better 60 times of the event.

Mason Donner, OF, Oldham County, 2017
60 Time: 7.66, Position Velocity:  OF-76, Exit Velocity: 81
5-foot-11, 150-pound, RHH hits from an open stance with some high hands, uses a pretty intermediate stride with a tilt of the barrel to get loaded, lower half works pretty well and keeps him balanced, swing path is mostly flat and showed a line drive approach in BP, likes to stay pull side to middle.  Defensively, showed good hands and fluid footwork in the outfield, played through the ball pretty aggressively and used a clean exchange and an arm action through a high ¾ slot to produced throws with average strength and carry. Finished game play 2-for-4 with two singles.


First Basemen

Noah Thompson, LHP/1B, Louisville Male, 2017
60 Time: 7.77, Position Velocity:  IF-79, Exit Velocity: 91
6-foot-0, 190-pound, LHH hits from a balanced and open stance, uses a long stride and a movement back with his hands to get loaded, good bat speed comes from a mostly flat swing plane, can get steep on lower pitches, displayed a pull approach with some good power.  Defensively, showed good hands and footwork around the back, plays athletically, long arm action come through a high ¾ slot, throws had some carry and accuracy.  Recorded a double and a HBP in game play.

Ethan Doty, RHP/1B, Highlands, 2017
60 Time: 7.9, Position Velocity:  IF-82, Exit Velocity: 87
5-foot-11, 195-pound, RHH hits from a balanced stance and uses a short stride with a barrel tilt to get loaded, lower half holds him back a little bit, above average bat speed showed a line drive approach with some gap-to-gap potential, stays mostly balanced. Defensively, showed good hands and pretty fluid footwork around the bag, long arm action was very accurate through a high ¾ slot,  good arm strength transfers over to the mound, as well, showed ability to make all plays at first. Committed to Otterbein College following the event.

Chase Arehart, RHP/1B, Randall Cooper HS, 2017
60 Time: 7.59, Position Velocity:  IF-74, Exit Velocity: 83
6-foot-5, 190-pound, RHH hits from a very wide stance with some pretty high hand positioning, uses a small stride and a lowering and movement back with his hands to get loaded, lower half works okay and keeps him balanced, average bat speed is seen from a long and uphill bat path through the zone, could find the barrel a little more consistently.  Defensively, showed pretty good hands and footwork, could have played through it smoother, longer arm action comes through a high ¾ slot, average arm strength with inconsistent accuracy. Recorded a double in game play.

Benjamin Godfrey, 1B, Elizabethtown, 2017
60 Time: 7.91, Position Velocity:  IF-77, Exit Velocity: 79
6-foot-2, 205-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and slightly open stance, uses a shorter stride with a slight barrel tilt to get loaded, lower half helps him maintain pretty solid balance, above average bat speed promotes a line drive approach with some occasional pop, could square up the barrel a little more consistently. Defensively, showed soft hands and fluid footwork around the bag, plays through the ball athletically, short arm action through a high ¾ release, some accuracy and above average arm strength.  Went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk in game play.


Middle Infielders

Collin Teegarden, SS, Campbell County, 2017
60 Time: 7.12, Position Velocity:  IF-85, Exit Velocity: 81
5-foot-11, 155-pound LHH hits from a balanced and slightly open stance, uses an intermediate stride with a smooth movement back with his hands to get loaded, lower half works well to keep him balanced, swing plane starts a little steep but flattens out with good bat speed through the zone to provide a line drive approach with gap-to-gap potential, barrels the ball well.  Defensively, showed good hands and footwork at shortstop, plays through the ball with athleticism, exchange is long with an extra step and a glove pat, long arm action through a high ¾ slot, very accurate throws had good carry on them across the infield. Committed to Lake Sumpter State JC (FL) following the event.

Jonathan Powell, SS, Daviess Co., 2017
60 Time: 7.02, Position Velocity:  IF-81, Exit Velocity: 86
5-foot-10, 160-pound, RHH hits from a taller and open stance with relaxed hands, uses a short stride that keeps his front side fairly open and a barrel tilt to get loaded, lower half clears hips for a mostly flat swing plane, good bat speed and a line drive approach has the potential for some gap-to-gap pop.  Defensively, showed soft hands and fluid footwork at the shortstop position, plays through the ball with confidence and stays loose, clean exchange and shorter arm action result in a high ¾ release point, throws with carry could have been more consistent in their accuracy. Finished game play going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Matthew Bryant, 2B, Bullitt East, 2017
60 Time: 7.32, Position Velocity:  IF-76, Exit Velocity: 86
5-foot-7, 150-pound, LHH hits from a balanced stance, uses an intermediate stride and a slight barrel tilt to get loaded, stays pretty tall through his swing, good bat speed is generated through his steeper bat path, line drive approach showed solid contact and some gap-to-gap potential. Defensively, showed above average hands and footwork, could have played through the ball a little smoother, short arm action comes from a high ¾ slot, average arm strength but very good accuracy on throws across the infield.


Third Basemen

Michael Lobred, 3B/RHP, Bullitt East, 2017
60 Time: 7.53, Position Velocity:  IF-79, Exit Velocity: 80
6-foot-1, 200-pound, RHH hits from an open stance and uses a toe-tap and short stride with a big barrel tilt to get loaded, lower half works okay, above average bat speed is seen through a mostly flat bat path through the zone, line drive approach helped him stay consistent, could use a little more rhythm.  Defensively, showed good hands and footwork at the corner with an ability to make a lot of different plays, plays with confidence, shorter arm action comes through a high ¾ release point, mostly accurate throws came with slightly above average arm strength and carry.  Recorded a double and a single in game play.


Catchers

Jared Riordan, C, Bullitt East, 2017
60 Time: 7.76, Pop Time: 1.87-1.96, Position Velocity:  C-77, Exit Velocity: 78
5-foot-10, 150-pound, RHH hits from a balanced stance with very low initial hand positioning, uses a fluid weight shift and a shorter stride with some slight movement up and back with his hands to get loaded, lower half works pretty well, average bat speed produced by a flat bat path and a line drive approach, gap-to-gap potential is there.  Defensively, showed quick hands and feet behind the plate to get rid of the ball, quick and high exchange led to a short arm action from over-the-top to get balls to second base, uses arm strength to advantage and posted impressive workout pop times.  Finished game play 1-for-3 with a walk.

Jace Pinkston, C, Henderson County, 2017
60 Time: 7.44, Pop Time: 2.07-2.11, Position Velocity:  C-74, Exit Velocity: 87
5-foot-10, 160-pound, RHH hits from a balanced stance and uses a short stride with some slight and late movement back with his hands to get loaded, lower half helps to provide his good bat speed, swing plane stays mostly flat through the zone and displayed a line drive approach with gap-to-gap potential, showed some occasional power to pull side.  Defensively, showed good hands and footwork behind the plate, played through the ball and was clean about his actions, exchange could have been quicker to catch up to his other movements, short arm action through an over-the-top release point, throws were mostly accurate and consistent.
