Unsigned Senior Games: Team Royal Outfielders

The PBR Kentucky Unsigned Senior Games event took place at Northern Kentucky University on August 8 and provided close to 50 unsigned seniors the opportunity to showcase their abilities to the PBR Kentucky staff and several college coaches in attendance.

The following is a look at the Team Royal outfielders who participated in the event. This is position player analysis only. Those players who also pitched at the event will have their pitching performance featured in a subsequent article.

Evan Figert, OF, Franklin-Simpson HS, 2016
6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, short stride, wraps bat in load, level swing path and gets through the zone with some hand quickness, ball jumps when squared up, shows power potential especially to the pull side, 86 mph exit velocity off the tee, ran 4.65 down the line, went 3-for-4 in game play with singles to LF and RF and an infield single. Shows a loose and athletic arm in the outfield, works through the ball, over the top release with 79 mph velocity and some carry, accurate throws.

William Morgan, OF, Boyd County HS, 2016
6-foot-2, 190-pound right handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, short stride, shows some strength generated bat speed, short swing path with some stiffness in finish, line drive type hitter with a pull approach, 80 mph exit velocity off the tee, ran 4.83 down the line, went 2-for-4 in game play with two infield singles. Defensively, plays through the ball well, shows good arm strength at 84 mph from a long over the top release, good carry on mostly accurate throws.

Drew Borman, OF/RHP, Conner HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 175-pound right handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, shows some present bat speed, 85 mph exit velocity off the tee, path works uphill at times, shows ability to use all fields, got out of the box quickly and ran 4.45 down the line (best speed to date), went 1-for-4 in game play with a stolen base, struggled to make contact in some at bats. Defensively, plays though the ball well, good set up on fly balls catching with momentum coming forward, short high-3/4 release with 76 mph velocity (79 at previous event), accurate arm with average carry.

Hunter Fryman, OF, Scott County HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 180 pound left-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, gets to front side early at times, shows pull side power when everything works in sync, 77 mph exit velocity off the tee (81 at previous event), went 1-for-4 in game play with a flare to left-center, also reached on an error and stole a base, ran 4.51 down the line. Works through the ball well on both ground balls and fly balls, short over the top release with average arm strength, some accuracy, 76 mph velocity.

Mark Walkenhorst, OF/1B, Highlands HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 185 pound left-handed hitter hits from a slightly closed stance, has a leg kick trigger with a short stride, a lot of pre-pitch movement from entire body, line drive type hitter, contact-oriented swing, ran 5.16 down the line, hit well in game play going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double to right-center, shows ability to hit to all fields. Defensively, attacks the ball aggressively in the outfield, short over the top release, below average arm strength, 70 mph velocity. Shows some athleticism at first base, solid footwork, quick release, 70 mph velocity.
