As teams around the state are kicking off the 2015 season today with their first day of official team practice, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana is pleased to bring you its initial Class of 2015 rankings. The Top 50 rankings will be updated periodically throughout the coming months, as well as the release of the 2016 classes and beyond, as we bring you all the detailed information regarding high school baseball in the state of Louisiana.

Let’s dive into the rankings and take a look at who lands in the top five of the initial PBR Louisiana rankings.

Nick Lee, a RHP/SS from South Beauregard HS and a Louisiana Lafayette signee, takes the top spot. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound right-hander exploded onto the scene this summer as he consistently pitched 89-93 mph and touched 95. The projectable frame, power stuff, added to the ability to play shortstop at a high level make Lee a highly coveted commodity heading into the 2015 draft.

Hogan Harris, a physical left-hander and a Louisiana Lafayette signee with power stuff from St.Thomas Moore HS slides into the number two position. Pitching at 88-92 mph and getting up to 94 this past summer with heavy sink and deception allows Harris to be devastating on left-handed hitters.

Kale Breaux, a pitchability left-hander from Sulphur HS and future Mississippi State Bulldog. He will pitch 85-87 mph and gets up to 89 with command to both sides of the plate. Also possess quality secondary stuff with a tight spinning curveball that has depth and deception.

Dayton Dugas, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound right-handed hitting outfielder from Sam Houston HS. A Wichita State signee that has high-level athleticism and a proto-typical pro-style frame. Dugas has recently undergone some changes with his swing and set-up, getting rid of some stiffness, and now shows the ability to have loose, whippy and exciting power potential this spring.

O’Neal Lochridge, a future LSU Tiger with a 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame from St. Thomas Moore HS rounds out the top five. The right-handed hitting middle infielder has shown quality bat speed, has consistently hit against some of the best arms the country has to offer, and shows the ability to stay on the infield as he advances in the game.

A few players to keep an eye on from outside the top five that remain uncommitted heading into this spring.

Tyler Reid, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound right-handed hitter from Edna Karr HS has come on strong this winter and possess some raw tools to add to his projectable frame.

Jack Burk, a 6-foot-4 right-hander from Jesuit HS, coming off some injury struggles a year ago has made some noise this winter. As a sophomore, Burk had been up to 90 mph with a clean delivery.

Brennan Breaud, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound left-handed hitting shortstop from Destrehan HS has shown nicely this winter as well. A quality defender with a short, compact left-handed stroke that has been a staple in the Destrehan lineup for years now that could be on some radars this spring.

Please keep an eye out as Prep Baseball Report Louisiana will begin a schedule of events once the spring season has concluded. Also, if you have not done so already, please click the link to fill out this free player profile to get your recruiting process started now.
