Louisiana Class of 2022 Rankings Update
May 18, 2020
The 2020 season was shortened but there was some quality action and minor shakeup since the last update to the Class of 2022 rankings. As we worked our way through the winter and early spring, both on the state and national levels, more light has been shed on this talented and deep class. After the preseason update saw some minor changes towards the top of the rankings, the early season action has provided some shakeup in the middle and later portions of the list, which has now been expanded to 85 players and as more prospects continue to emerge, so will the list. Here are some highlights in the update...
+ Future Games standout, SS Gavin Guidry (Barbe HS, LA) checks-in at No.1 in the newly released class of 2022 rankings. An athletic 6-foot-2, 165-pound middle infielder, Guidry established himself as one of the premier prospects in the country at the 2019 Future Games.
+ With RHP Kade Woods’ reclassification, the No. 2 spot was left vacant. Filling the void is OF Zeb Ruddell (Neville HS, LA). The athletic left-handed hitter has shown to be one of the premier bats in the state for the class of 2022.
+ Louisiana State recruit, C Ethan Frey (Rosepine HS, LA) comes in at No. 3 in class of 2022 rankings. Frey opened eyes in the recruiting world at July’s Underclass Games, as the physical 6-foot-3, 190-pound catcher showed big raw power from the right-side and advanced arm strength behind the dish.
+ IF Tyler LeJeune (Iota HS, LA) rounds out the top four, as the left-handed hitter has shown to be one of the more advanced bats in Louisiana over the past year. LeJeune has been a standout at the last two Underclass Games, as well as the 2018 Junior Future Games, where he showed the ability to consistently find the barrel with bat speed and strength.
+ LHP DJ Primeaux is the top ranked left-hander at No. 6. He recently attended one of our TrackMan Test days where he flashed a velocity jump while continuing to show advanced feel to spin the breaking ball.
+ RHP Canaan Clayton (Jesuit HS, LA) makes his debut in the 2022 rankings at No. 12. The right-hander arrived on the scene at the Pitchers Showcase in January where he flashed big arm strength.
