Quick Hits: PBR Louisiana Game 1 Recap

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Emerson, GA - Day 2 of the PBR Future Games has come and gone, as all teams have completed their first slate of games for the week.  Yesterday, we took on Team Alabama in Game 1 and all players were able to participate in another on-field batting practice and extended in & out before the start of the contest.  The "Boot Boys" came out swinging, while also receiving quality outings from all three arms, on route to a 8-3 win.  Below, we take a look at some of the highlights from yesterday's victory.  We take on Tennessee tonight at 7 PM EST for our second game of the week.  Be sure to follow us, across all of our social media platforms, for up to the minute coverage of this year's PBR Future Games!

+ 2025 OF William Patrick (St. Frederick HS)

If you read our Quick Hits article yesterday, then you would know that we felt pretty good about the St. Frederick HS product coming out of Wednesday's workout day, and his performance in Game 1 had the entire Lakepoint Sports Complex buzzing.  During his first at-bat, he fouled off several tough pitches, and ended up drawing a walk, after a 10+ pitch at-bat.  He then showed that his 6.42 speed plays in game, as he easily swiped second base, before coming around to score.  His second at-bat, however, is where Patrick announced his presence at this year's Future Games, as he got every stitch of a FB up in the zone and deposited it into LF for a 3 run home run.  He finished the day 1-2 with a HR, BB, SB, and 3 RBI.

+ 2025 RHP Cade Durbin (Parkview Baptist HS)

Wiry 6'0" 155 lbs. frame with plenty of room to add strength.  Durbin was given the ball to start Game 1 and he delivered a brilliant performance.  The Parkview Baptist HS product wastes no time on the mound, before working through an athletic and repeatable delivery, and releasing the ball from a 3/4 slot.  His 83-85 mph had really good ride and life through the zone and definitely played up, but was most impressive, was his ability to move his FB in, out, and up in the zone to both RHH and LHH.  He flashed a 71-72 mph sharp biting "11-5" shape CB with spin rates up to 2866 RPM's, and was able to land it for strikes and swing/miss.  Durbin also landed a quality 73-75 mph CH with late fade as well.  He's young for his class, can throw 3 pitches for strikes, and has MLB bloodlines, which only helps his cause after his Future Games outing on Thursday.

+ 2025 OF Noah Lewis (Catholic BR HS)

Much like William Patrick above, there were big expectations for Lewis coming into Thursday, after he posted a blazing 6.35 in the 60.  The Cathoiic BR HS product delivered, as he put together a 1-2 day with a stolen base and a walk, while also scoring a run.  His hit was a single up the middle on a FB down in the zone and Lewis did a really nice job of letting his hands work and not trying to do much, driving the ball right back from where it came from.  He's as athletic as any prospect in attendance, and we look for him to continue to put together quality at-bats over the next couple of days.

+ 2025 OF/INF Ryan Darrah (Brother Martin HS)

The reigning Catholic League Hitter of the Year had to unfortunately miss Wednesday's workout, due to his plane having some issues, but he more than made up for it on Thursday against Alabama.  The Brother Martin HS product finished the day going 1-2 at the plate with a triple, walk, and run batted in.  Darrah's triple was smoked to the opposite field gap, and he did a really nice job of keeping his hands inside the baseball, while also getting to show off his wheels, as he was rounding second base.

+ 2025 SS Casey McCoy (Dutchtown HS)

As mentioned in our Quick Hits article a couple of days ago, McCoy has been a consummate in-game performer all spring and summer long, and Thursday was no different.  The Dutchtown HS product finished the day 2-3 at the plate with a run scored and a stolen base.  Both of his hits were singles with one being back up the middle and another an infield hit, but there's something to be said for a guy that always seems to "get hits", and McCoy is one of those guys.
