The busy summer season has officially come to an end for high school baseball prospects across the country, which means it's time for an update to our state rankings.  We spent the summer evaluating prospects at our events, and we also kept close tabs on their performances for their respective summer teams.  Today marks the end of a three-week stretch of rankings updates with the 2026 class.  In this update, there is some movement within the Top 10 and the list expands to X players in total.  There is still likely a lot of movement within this group, especially after we see many of these prospects at our State Games from 09/30/23-10/01/23 at Alex Box Stadium, home of the defending National Champion LSU Tigers.  Below, we give a snapshot of the Top 10, dive into the Top 5 players, and also highlight a few players who increased their stock over the summer.  Be sure to follow us, across all of our social media platforms, as we continue our state rankings updates over the next couple of weeks.

TOP 5

1. 2026 OF/RHP John David Alexander (Barbe HS)

Projectable 6'3" 185 lbs. frame with a lot of room to continue to add strength.  Alexander's freshman campaign was well documented last spring, as he ended up playing a vital role in the Bucs claiming their 12th state title in school history.  He finished his freshman season hitting at a .349 clip with 3 HR, 8 2B, and 28 RBI, while also being equally effective on the mound with a 2-0 record and 1 save, to go along with a 1.43 ERA across 14 2/3 IP.  Heading into his sophomore season, he'll be relied upon even more on the mound, as the likely #2 starter behind senior LSU commit Landon Victorian, in addition to his duties with the bat. 

 

2. 2026 LHP Bradyn Garner (West Monroe HS)

The 6'0" 185 lbs. LSU commit delivered for the Rebels in first season on campus, compiling a 6-0 record and 1.96 ERA with 61 K's across 39 1/3 IP.  We saw Garner at the beginning of the season and then again in a relief appearance against the Bucs in the state title game.  He ran his FB up to 91 mph and sat mostly 86-89 mph with a bigger, sweeping mid-upper 70's SL.  Garner will likely be relied upon even more in his sophomore season for the Rebels, as they look to avenge their state title loss to the Bucs in 2024. 

 

3. 2026 RHP Logan Sorrel (Dunham HS)

6'3" 180 lbs. frame with long limbs.  It's easy to dream on the upside, but his present stuff is already really good and it showed in his freshman year for Dunham.  Sorrel led the Tigers staff on route to racking up over 50 K's last spring, which earned him 1st team All-District honors and Honorable Mention All-State honors.  He unfortunately suffered an injury in May that caused him to miss the entire summer, but he's back healthy now and reports out of Baton Rouge, LA have been positive.  We'll get to see the state's top ranked RHP in the '26 class at our State Games event later this month at LSU.

 

 

4. 2026 OF Braylen Montgomery (Walker HS)

Long, lean, and athletic 6'3" 175 lbs. frame.  The Walker HS product has arguably the highest upside and ceiling in the class.  Montgomery attended our Top Prospect Games in June and showed off his rare combination of size, power, and speed, as he recorded a 6.88 60 and 94 mph max exit velocity.  He also connected during gameplay on a two-strike pitch up in the zone for a triple to the opposite field gap.  We fully expect Montgomery to make an impact in the Wildcats lineup this coming spring, as his best baseball is likely ahead of him.

 

 

5. 2026 MIF Myles Ledoux (Barbe HS)

The 5'10" 160 lbs. middle-infielder suffered an unfortunate football injury last fall, that led him to miss the majority of his freshman season for the Bucs.  Ledoux made up for lost time this summer, showing that his bat to ball skills are still some of the best in the entire class, and that was evident at the PBR National Program Invitational Tournament in June.  The Barbe HS product collected an astounding 12 hits in 19 at-bats with 6 doubles and 1 triple, to finish the tournament hitting at a .632 clip.  Furthermore, Ledoux finished the summer season hitting .429 (24-56) with 9 2B, 3 3B, and 13 RBI for the Knights Knation 15U National group.

 

 

 

RISERS

+ 2026 OF Seth DeGeorge (Parkview Baptist HS)

Athletic 5'11" 175 lbs. frame.  DeGeorge first caught our eye during the spring high school season, as a freshman hitting in the two-hole for the Eagles, on route to picking up two hits against a very good Live Oak team.  We then had the chance to see the Parkview Baptist HS product at our Top Prospect Games in June, where he turned in a 6.95 in the 60, while also recording an 86 mph positional velocity from the outfield.  His bat played well on that day too, as he showed a balanced and repeatable right-handed stroke with a lot of hard contact to the middle of the field, and a max exit velocity of 90.8 mph.  We move DeGeorge up five spots to #14 overall in this update.

 

 

+ 2026 C Ridge Coats (Ouachita Christian HS)

Physical and durable 6'0" 180 lbs. frame.  The Ouachita Christian product showed well at our Monroe Summer Open in late-May, which led us to follow him closely the rest of the summer.  Coats recorded pop times of 2.03-2.21 from the crouch, but it was his offense that really stood out.  From a wider stance with a toe-tap load, he delivered a heavy barrel with an on-plane path to the ball that resulted in a 91.2 mph max exit velocity.  His success at our event translated to his summer season with the Knights Knation 15U National group, where he finished hitting .337 with a HR, 8 2B, 3B, and 32 RBI.  In this update, Coats moves up nineteen spots to #15 overall.

 

 

+ 2026 INF John Parker Trahan (Opelousas Catholic HS)

Trahan was another guy that impressed us at our Baton Rouge Summer Open back in June.  The Opelousas Catholic posted a 7.25 in the 60, while showing clean actions on the infield with accurate throws across the diamond.  At the plate, however, is where he really shined.  His compact 5'9" 170 lbs. frame with a strong lower-half allows him to make a violent and compact turn, which resulted in a max exit velocity of 94.7 mph.  Trahan drove the ball from gap to gap, showing present power to the pull-side.  He's another good follow in the state's '26 class and moves up nine spots to #17 overall.

 

 

+ 2026 INF Lane Mixon (University Lab HS)

The 5'11" 180 lbs. U-High product was another standout performer at this summer's Baton Rouge Summer Open in late June.  Mixon starts in an upright and balanced stance with a quiet load, before delivering the barrel straight to the ball with a strong top-hand and extension up through the plane of the pitch.  He maintained balance from start to finish and showed the ability to drive the ball up the middle and to the opposite field gap, while recording a max exit velocity of 88.2 mph.  Mixon is also a really good all-around athlete that posted a laser-timed 6.94 in the 60.
