Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

We made our first trip of the summer and second of 2021 to North Louisiana, on Tuesday 06/15/21, for our Northern Louisiana Future Games Trials/Uncommitted Upperclass Showcase at Bossier Parish Community College.  The Bossier Parish Community College staff was on hand, as well as a couple of other Division I schools, which only added to the excitement of the day.  New names showing off their skills was the theme of of the day, especially offensively, as we were treated to numerous guys recording 90 mph plus exit velocities.  Below, we take a look at a few prospects who stood out in our latest edition of "Quick Hits".  Be sure to follow us over the coming days, as we continue to provide post-event coverage.

2022 CLASS

-2022 SS/OF Parker Sellers (West Monroe HS):  Physical and athletic 5'11" 180 lbs. frame.  Sellers looks to be another West Monroe Rebel bat with some "thump".  Produced consistent 90 mph + exit velocities with a max exit velocity of 93 mph.

-2022 3B/2B Carter Breaux (Ascension Episcopal HS): Athletic 5'11" 165 lbs. frame with twitchy movements.  Good over athlete that posted a 7.18 in the 60.  Solid infield actions with a positional velocity of 81 mph.  Max exit velocity of 91 mph.  Solid BP round, finding a lot of barrels to the middle of the field.

-2022 SS/RHP Gaven Jones (Buckeye HS): Compact and stout 5'8" 195 lbs. frame.  Loud BP round with a max exit velocity of 98 mph and a max distance of 353'.  Also, posted a 7.26 in the 60 and threw 83 mph across the diamond.

-2022 Isaac Leger (Sacred Heart HS): Physical and imposing 6'2" 220 lbs. frame.  The R/R prospect showed off some pop during his BP round with a max exit velocity of 93 mph and max distance of 370'.  Moved well at 1B during the defensive portion of the day and showed good hands, picking multiple balls in the dirt from IF's.

2023 CLASS

-2023 SS/2B Triston Hargrave (Airline HS): Athletic 5'10" 150 lbs. frame with room to add strength.  Gritty type of player who sprayed balls up the middle and to the opposite field gap with a max exit velocity of 91 mph.  Showed soft hands and athletic footwork in the infield with a positional velocity of 81 mph.  6.96 in the 60 as well.

-2023 SS/RHP Alex Dupuy (Natchitoches Central HS): 5'11" 160 lbs. frame with plenty of room to fill out.  PBR career best day for Dupuy in all of the major categories.  Broke the "sub 7.00" barrier in the 60 with a 6.99, showing improved footwork and speed.  Definitely showing an increase in strength as well with a 89 mph exit velocity and 83 mph positional velocity.  A high follow this summer.

-2023 SS/RHP Will Mabry (Tensas Academy): Athletic and physical 5'11" 180 lbs. frame.  Interesting L/R prospect who started his day off with a great BP round.  Smooth LHH stroke with present gap to gap power.  Big time arm potential, as evidenced by his 89 mph positional velocity.  Hopped on the mound and worked his FB 82-85 mph, as well.

-2023 OF/LHP Michael Plummer (Neville HS): Athletic 6'0" 195 lbs. frame with room to add strength.  Showed off some big tools for a 2023 grad.  Posted an event best 6.64 in the 60 and threw 89 mph from the OF.  Also, recorded a 92 mph exit velocity.  A high follow this summer.

-2023 OF/SS Colin Rains (Haughton HS): Athletic 6'2" 190 lbs. frame with plenty of room to add strength.  Rains was one of the biggest winners of the day.  6.90 in the 60.  Repeated his RHH stroke during BP with easy strength off the bat that resulted in a 97 mph exit velocity.  A high follow this summer.

-2023 C/3B CJ Watts (Lakeside HS): Physical 6'3" 220 lbs. frame.  Watts put on a power display during his BP round with multiple exit velocities of 95 mph + and an event best max exit velocity of 101 mph.  Power wasn't  just pull side either, as he squared multiple balls to dead CF.

-2023 RHP/3B Braden Richardson (North Desoto HS): Physical and compact 5'10" 195 lbs. frame.  Richardson was one of the most intriguing prospects of the day.  Showed off arm strength by throwing 88 mph across the diamond.  Power potential was obvious during his BP round that saw a max exit velocity of 96 mph.  On the mound, he worked his FB 84-86 mph and showed aptitude for spin with an almost 2900 RPM breaking ball.

-2023 SS/RHP Noah Miller (Minden HS): Athletic 5'6" 125 lbs. frame with a ton of fast twitch.  Explosiveness packed in a small punch is how I would describe Miller.  Flashed off a quick and fast arm across the infield with an 88 mph positional velocity.  Worked quick and pounded the zone to finish his day off with an 81-83 mph FB.

2024 CLASS

-2024 OF Jakobe Jackson (Minden HS): Athletic 5'10" 160 lbs. frame with room to add strength.  Performed well in multiple portions of the day that saw him start with a 6.94 60.  Power potential at the plate with a max exit velocity of 92 mph.

-2024 OF/RHP Bryce Fontenot (Sulphur HS):  Athletic 5'11" 180 lbs. frame.  Fontenot looks like a "throwback" style of player.  Good athlete that posted a 7.28 in the 60.  Simple approach at the plate, controls the barrel.  Max exit velocity of 88 mph.

-2024 RHP/3B Sean Waits (Parkway HS): Physical 6'2" 195 lbs. frame.  Heard a lot about the talented freshman throughout the year and he had a good day on Tuesday. 79-81 mph FB off the mound and looked to be a "heavy" FB that should induce a ton of groundballs.  Recorded a max exit velocity of 88 mph and looks to be a future middle of the order hitter for Parkway HS.

-2024 SS/2B Blayne McFerren (Calvary Baptist HS): Athletic 5'9" 145 lbs. frame that will continue to fill out as he matures.  Improving as a runner, posting a personal best 7.20 in the 60.  Took a good BP round with a line drive approach, squaring balls to the middle of the field with a max exit velocity of 84 mph.
