Louisiana Fall ID - Quick Hits

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Our fall slate of events ended this past Sunday with our Louisiana Fall ID that was held at Catholic BR High School.  From uncommitted seniors looking to find a home, to rising freshman trying to make a good first impression; there was talent all over the field on Sunday.  Today, we continue our post-event coverage of the Louisiana Fall ID with another edition of Quick Hits.  This piece focuses on some of the standout prospects from the event.  Be sure to follow us, on all of our social media platforms, for continued coverage of the event!

Quick Hits

Daniel Harden OF / LHP / Catholic(BR), LA / 2023

Athletic and lean 6'2" 180 lbs. frame with room to add strength.  Harden is a two-sport star at Catholic BR HS (football and baseball), so we were excited to get to see him up close this past Sunday.  The uncommitted outfielder started his day off by posting a 6.83 (laser) in the 60 on what turned out to be a slower track on Sunday.  Harden turned in one of the best rounds of batting practice on the day as well.  A left-handed hitter, he operates from a balanced an athletic stance with his hands held lower, below shoulder height, which creates an uphill path to contact with extension to match.  He sent several balls deep to centerfield and into the gaps which produced a max exit velocity of 94 mph.  Harden also threw 85 mph from the outfield and his throws had backspin and carry, and were on target as well.  Uncommitted for now, Harden will be an excellent addition to a college program looking for a left-handed hitter outfielder with upside.

Parker Guidry 3B / SS / St. Amant, LA / 2026

Still developing 5'8" 145 lbs. wiry frame with a ton of twitchy movements.  Guidry was definitely a "winner" from Sunday's Louisiana Fall ID.  In the box, he starts in a taller taller and more upright stance, and uses a leg lift load and stride to get back to center.  Guidry showed loose, quick hands, and created good barrel whip through the zone with level extension that produced consistent hard contact on a line from gap to gap.  Defensively is where Guidry really impressed, especially for a freshman.  He positioned his body and feet extremely well to receive the good hop on groundballs and showed above average range with good lateral movement and a quick release.  We will definitely be following Guidry and his progression moving forward.

Dalton Sabathe C / OF / Pearl River , LA / 2025

Athletic 6'1" 175 lbs. frame with plenty of room to add strength.  Sabathe has been a familiar face at our events over the last year or so, and had another good showing on Sunday.  It was evident that he's been in the weight room since our last look, as he's continued to add strength and still has room to continue to gain physicality.  Offensively, he has continued to refine and improve his swing.  Sabathe starts in an upright, slightly open, and tall stance, and uses a leg kick load and stride.  He doesn't get cheated with his swings, as he aggressively delivers the bat head to contact.  For now, most of his power is to the pull-side, and as he matures, he should continue to improve his ability to drive the ball to centerfield and the opposite field gap.  His 92 mph max exit velocity was a +6 mph improvement from just four months ago at our Top Prospect Games.  Defensively, the Pearl River HS product is as solid as they come.  He receives the low pitch extremely well and displays athletic footwork and a quick transfer on throws to second base, and showed increased arm strength as well by posting a 79 mph positional velocity from the crouch, which is a +3 mph increase for him.

Aubrey St. Angelo 3B / RHP / Brusly, LA / 2026

Long, lean, and projectable 6'0" 150 lbs. frame that will continue to add strength as he matures.  The Brusly HS product had a good day as a position player, as he recorded a max exit velocity of 86 mph, while also throwing 79 mph across the infield with athletic actions, but it was his performance on the mound that really caught our eye.  St. Angelo starts in the middle of the rubber and stays there throughout an up-tempo and deliberate delivery, releasing the ball from a 3/4 arm slot and shows a quick and shorter arm action.  He sat in the 78-79 mph range with his fastball that had good spin and life through the zone.  His 70-71 mph breaking ball had good downer shape and hard bite, and he also flashed a 72-73 mph slider that was shaped like a cutter, as well as a firmer 74-75 mph changeup.

Jacob Chapital SS / 2B / Ben Franklin, LA / 2024

Athletic 6'0" 170 lbs. frame.  Chapital was a guy we hadn't heard a whole lot about heading into Sunday, but he made a good impression on our staff after the event was complete.  At the plate, he starts in a tall and open stance before using a simple load and stride to get back to center with his hands held high.  There was some length to the swing, but he displayed quick hands to contact with a direct bat path and uphill extension.  He worked mostly to the pull-side in his BP round and produced a max exit velocity of 86 mph.  Defensively, Chapital showed active feet on the dirt, as he took short and choppy steps to position his body to receive the baseball cleanly with soft hands.  He threw 82 mph across the diamond and his throws had backspin and carry.
