Underclass Games: Stats Breakdown

The annual Underclass Games took place on Tuesday July 23rd at Tigue Moore Field on the campus of the University of Louisiana Lafayette. The invite only event saw 60+ of the best underclass prospects from across the state of Louisiana.
We begin our instant analysis from Tuesday’s event with a look at some top statistical performers. We measured six separate categories and we’ll detail the leaders in each category below.
Tuesday’s 60-times were eye-popping, as 15+ players turned in sub-7.00 times. Brennan Holt (Parkview Baptist, 2021) turned in the top 60-yard dash time of the day, posting a blazing 6.50-second 60-yard dash. Ethan Medlin ( Barbe, 2021) and Carter Griffin (Haughton, 2021) were the other two players to finish under 6.6-seconds, with times of 6.51-seconds, and 6.52-seconds, respectively.
On the mound, the Underclass Games saw 12 players flash a max velocity of 80 mph or better. Leading the pack was Cameron Weiss (Slidell, 2021) posting an 86 mph max velocity on Tuesday. Brody Smith (Zachary, 2021), Hunter Corass (St. Pauls, 2021), and Nick Whittington (Sterlington, 2022) also showed good stuff on the mound, running their fastballs up to 85 mph, 84 mph, and 84 mph, respectively. While athletic left-handed pitcher, Gavin Leblanc (Iota, 2021) showed big time pitchability as he ran his fastball up to 83 mph with late arm side action.
Cameron Trosclair (South Terrebonne, 2021) led the exit velocity leaderboard at 94 mph from a tee, while also putting on an impressive power display during batting practice, as he launched several balls out of the park. Carter Griffin (Haughton, 2021), Ethan Frey (Central(BR), 2022) and Anthony Priester (Live Oak, 2021) also showed electric bat speed, posting 93 mph exit velocities.
Hunter Ponson (Parkview Baptist, 2021) was one of the standouts during batting practice, showing bat speed with strength at contact and an exit velocity of 88 mph, while also tying atop the leaderboard with an event best 88 mph infield velocity, joining Bailyn Sorensen (Riverview, 2021), and Brennan Holt (Parkview Baptist, 2021).
Ethan Medlin (Barbe, 2021) topped the leaderboard with an event best 88 mph outfield velocity, while fellow Barbe teammate Ashton Fuselier (Barbe, 2022) posted an 87 mph OF velo, joining Ian Montz (Acadiana, 2021) and John Grey, Jr. (Southside, 2021) for second on the leaderboard.
Bailyn Sorensen (Riverfield, 2021) also showed off high-level arm strength behind the dish, posting an event best 81 mph catcher velocity. While Anthony Priester (Live Oak, 2021) and Carson Carey (Airline, 2022) also showed off elite arm strength, posting 80 mph positional velocities.
Ashton Fuselier (Barbe, 2022) topped the leaderboard with a pop-time of 1.93-seconds, showing off athletic footwork and quick, clean transfer. Ethan Butler (University Lab, 2021) also showed off quick, clean transfers with accurate, on-the-bag throws, posting a pop time of 1.94-seconds.
