Underclass Trials Preview: Roster & Check-In Times

Trey Sofio
Louisiana Scouting Director

The Prep Baseball Report Underclass Trials will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas high school in Hammond, LA, and will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017.

This event will currently feature 55 underclassmen in the state of Louisiana, but there is still limited space still available. To register for the event, click HERE.

Check-in for position players will begin at 8:20 AM and the event will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. Position players will go through a pro-style workout, which includes: run times, defensive evaluation with positional velocity, swing analysis with exit velocity and round of batting practice.

Position players can leave, once the morning session is completed. Catchers will need to stay for afternoon session.

Pitchers ONLY, should report for check-in at 12:00 PM. Pitchers will then throw bullpens.

As always, players will have their performances video-taped and hosted on the Prep Baseball Report multi-media platform that is subscribed to by over 800 college coaches and professional scouts.

The annual event has seen high level talent in attendance, each of the previous two years, which continues to attract schools to follow the event. In the past two years, the Underclass Trials has had Nationally Ranked Players, Blayne Enlow, Jacob Pearson and Cade Doughty, all of whom are Louisiana State recruits, explode on to the recruiting scene.

Not only will players receive high-level exposure, but the event will also serve as an identifier for the PBR Future Games and this summer’s Underclass Games at Tulane University.

Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, 2020 LHP Dylan Carmouche (University Lab) is scheduled to attend the event. Currently ranked No. 2 in Louisiana’s 2020 class, and No. 67 Overall, Carmouche is a highly projectable 6-foot-5 left-hander, and has already made significant noise in the Louisiana baseball scene.
