Unsigned Senior Showcase: Quick Hits

The Prep Baseball Report Unsigned Senior Showcase at Bayou Segnette Field, home of Loyola University New Orleans, took place on Sunday, January 22nd. The event was open to all unsigned 2017 graduates. Here’s a quick look at some highlights from the day.

+ IF Ryan Zimmerman (Fontainebleau) has a lean 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame, broad shoulders, high waist, long levers, and quality projection. Zimmerman shows fluid athleticism, posting a 6.75 60-yard dash on Sunday. Left-handed hitter that hits from simple setup with clear strength at contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 93 mph.

+ IF/RHP Kendrick LeJeune (Jennings) is a projectable athlete that posted a 6.9 60-yard dash. Lean, 6-foot, 175-pound frame, athletic build. Shows solid feel for infield play, arm strength across the diamond with carry on throws and a positional velocity of 85 mph. Left-handed hitter, developing approach, but strength at contact that posted an exit velocity of 88 mph. Also showed a short arm action with arm speed from a high-3/4 release on the mound, getting his fastball up to 85 mph with potentially more in the tank.

+ OF/C Ryan Cupit (West Monroe) smooth left-handed hitter with fluid rhythm, bat speed, gap-to-gap approach that posted an exit velocity of 87 mph. Solid overall athlete that posted a 7.12 60-yard dash, threw 80 mph from the outfield, and had a pop time 2.00-seconds.

+ SS Connor Viator (Westgate) is a 5-foot-9, 150-pound shortstop with an average, athletic frame. Viator shows feel for infield play with soft hands, quick and clean exchanges, fluid footwork, and rhythm to his defensive game. Short arm action with accuracy on throws, some carry and a positional velocity of 81 mph.

+ IF Kolby Blanchard (St. Amant) has a 5-foot-9, 175-pound frame with strong build. Solid defender with average hands, clean footwork, and clean exchanges. Right-handed hitter with a balanced setup, line-drive approach, solid bat path, and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 83 mph.
