Updated Class Of 2019 Rankings

Trey Sofio
Louisiana Scouting Director

It’s been a busy several months since the last update to the Class of 2019 rankings. As we have worked our way through the early part of the summer schedule, and now begin our approach into the final few weeks of the 2018 summer season, more light has been shed on this talented class. There has been significant shakeup throughout the list with some significant risers, and additions to the list, which has expanded to 170 players.

The update of the 2019 class will begin the process of dusting off and updating the Louisiana class rankings, so be sure to check-in regularly in the weeks to come, as there will plenty of updates and content to keep you busy.

Now, let’s dive into the class of 2019 rankings with a few highlights from the updated list...

+ The top ten remains largely intact as, Louisiana State recruits, SS Cade Doughty (Denham Springs HS, LA), RHP Thomas Wilhite (West Ouachita HS, LA), OF Wes Toups (ED White HS, LA), C Alex Milazzo (Zachary HS, LA), and Mississippi recruit, RHP Drew McDaniel (St. Thomas More HS, LA) all remain in the top five. One of the premium catching talents in the country, Milazzo showed he is potentially one of the top defensive catchers in the country during June’s Tournament of the Stars.

+  Former Future Games standout, SS Collier Cranford (Zachary HS, LA) climbs to No. 8 in the updated list. Already one of the state’s top defenders, the right-handed hitting Cranford hit .393 with five home runs, and stole 18 bases this spring.

+ RHP/SS Dalton Aspholm (Central(BR) HS, LA) had breakout performances this fall at the Southern Louisiana Stats Day, and the annual All-State Games. The athletic 6-foot, 180-pound right-hander has continued to rise up boards this summer, showing an athletic delivery with a clean, loose arm action, and quick arm speed, running his fastball up to 90 mph.

+ C/RHP Kade Garmany (North Webster HS, LA) climbs to No. 17 in the updated list, after an outstanding performance during June’s Class Of 2019 Showcase – North. A strong 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame, he showed off high-level catch and throw skills, posting a top pop time of 1.81-seconds, while showing feel to hit with bat speed, and strength at contact from his right-handed stroke. A legitimate two-way prospect, his stuff was electric at times, running his fastball up to 89 mph with heavy, late life.

+ RHP Cameron Meeks (Captain Shreve HS, LA) rises to No. 25 in the most recent update, as the projectable 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-hander has seen a spike in his velocity recently, running his fastball up to 90 mph from his long-levered frame.
