NE Insider: The Recruiting Angle with Jack Harlan
This time of year seems to be a very nerve racking time for unsigned seniors and underclassmen looking to get on coaches radar. No need to panic, it's early in the spring and once it warms up, the coaches will be out to see your game. Relaxing and enjoying the spring season is important, so keep in mind, control the controllable things and work on your game.
The following weekly article will be a feature on a player who has yet to break onto the scene, but certainly has the ability to play and/or pitch at the college level.
Pitching at the college level and being successful is a combination of a couple things, of course, you need talent but it's a great deal more than that. Confidence in one’s self and work ethic come to mind. It's funny, now that I’m not coaching anymore, I see things a lot clearer now. High School pitchers either don’t realize or don’t know that what they do in between outings is more important than the actual outing. Preparation and work is the key to being good and consistent which breeds confidence. So many times, pitchers, who are extremely talented get to college and they pitch way below their potential. They miss out on the point above, its hard to be good at the upper levels.
Today we are going to take a look at Jack Harlan, a 2016 left-handed pitcher from Lawrence Academy, Massachusetts.
