Outlook
The Colonels are hoping 2018 will be the year they can break through the tough 1A East division after a Coveytough bracket put them against eventual champ St. Michaels in the sectional portion of the MPSSAA tournament. A deep returning core of talented individuals lead the way once again this season. Pitching will be a strong suit as the Colonels will have arguably the best 1-2 combo in the state with Jacob Zebron (NC State) and Jamison Covey (Ole Miss, pictured) heading up the staff. Add in Remington Mangum as a No. 3 and its hard to ague who had a better rotation in the state. The big three will also lead on the offensive end as well for the Colonels with C Garrett Nepert (NC Central) and Ty Scott also making for a pretty deep lineup. Keep an eye on IF Tyler Stanley and OF Jackie Zebron to see added time over the season and make for a deep team that should challenge in the tough Bayside North. As usual, the 1A East will be a tough region to get out of with several of the top contenders in the state residing in the region. If they can muster enough offense, the pitching should give them an edge to make it out. 2018 looks like it could potentially be the year Colonel Richardson challenges for their first state tournament birth in school history.
