The 2015 Prep Baseball Report Eastern Shore Showcase took place on Tuesday, July 7th at the Delmarva Shorebirds stadium in Salisbury, MD.  35 prospects from the Delmarva (Delaware/Maryland) area in the 2016-2019 class put their ability on display in front of the PBR scouting staff and college coaches from around the area.

Over the course of this week we will be releasing position-by-position analysis articles with scouting reports on each player and identifying the top prospects. Two-way prospects will appear in a positional analysis as well as a pitching analysis. We shall identify top performers in each positional breakdown along with a younger talent (2018, 2019) a Future Watch if applicable. 

Today we look at the catchers and first basemen that participated in the event. Let’s take a look at the participants.

TOP PERFORMERS

Abraham Mow 3B/RHP Milford (DE) 2017
Athletic frame at 5-foot-10 165-pounds with room to add strength. Hits from a balanced, slightly open set up. Has a smooth load with a short stride.  Could increase usage of lower half.  Has good balance in his swing.  A short, level path to the ball with quick bat speed. Stays in middle of field well.  Nice rhythm swing.  Shows potential pop with 88 mph exit velocity.  Has a loose arm action from a high ¾ arm slot.  Throws were consistent with carry across the infield at 80 mph.  Fluid footwork and soft hands with a clean exchange.

Connor Shockley 3B/SS Parkside 2017
Athletic frame at 5-foot-11 165-pounds. Hits from a slightly open set up.  Short stride and smooth load and double tap. Level bat path with quick hands and some bat speed. Good rhythm in swing and some lower half usage.  Exit velocity of 84 mph. Has active feet and sound footwork.  Soft hands with a clean exchange. Throws have some carry on them and are accurate at 79 mph. Throws from a low ¾ arm slot. Ran a 7.07 60-yard dash.

Zachary Adams SS/RHP Snow Hill 2018
Athletic frame at 6-foot, 165-pounds. Hits from an athletic set up that is slightly open.  Has rhythm in swing with a short load and small stride.  Has a short path to the ball with fast bat speed.  Gets tilt on head at contact. Nice extension through contact.  Good balance in swing.  Exit velocity of 83 mph. From the infield throws from a low ¾ arm angle with carry on the throws at 81 mph.  Has active feet and soft hands with a clean exchange.  Plays thru the ball well. Ran a 7.39 60-yard dash.

Jacob Booze SS/RHP JM Bennett 2018
Athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Hits from a tall athletic stance and slightly open.  Has rhythm in load with a slight leg kick.  Gets lower half in swing.  Level bat path that gets long at times and slightly uphill. Gets on backside in swing.  Exit velocity of 78 mph. Sound footwork.  Throws from a high ¾ arm angle across the diamond at 73 mph.  Ran a 7.5 60-yard dash. 

Kaleb Cline SS/2B JM Bennett 2017
Athletic frame at 6-foot, 154-pounds.  Hits from a tall set up. Level bat path with some extension through contact. Has some rhythm and a medium leg kick in load. Gets some usage of his lower half.  Gap-to-gap type hitter with an 82 mph exit velocity. Active feet from the shortstop position.  Could field little more in front of body.  Sound footwork and a clean exchange.  Throws from a low ¾ arm angle with a quick arm action and throws across the diamond were at 77 mph. Ran a 7.62 60-yard dash.

Colin Green SS/RHP Parkside 2017
Frame with room to fill out at 5-foot-11 140-pounds. Hits from a tall, balanced set up.  Has a level path to the ball with average bat speed.  Back leg on finish and gets some lower half usage. Exit velocity of 79 mph. Good balance in swing.  Sound footwork from the shortstop position.  Soft hands with a clean and quick exchange.  Throws had some carry on them at 80 mph. Ran a 7.17 60-yard dash. Interesting prospect as he adds bulk and gets stronger.

Andrew Hart SS/RHP Broadwater Academy 2018
Compact frame at 5-foot-7 155-pounds.  Hits froma tall slightly open set up.  Has some rhythm in load with short stride.  Short bat path that gets in and out of zone with average bat speed. Exit velocity of 80 mph. Throws from a ¾ arm slot across the diamond at 70 mph.  Clean exchange.  Ran a 7.65 60-yard dash.

Jared Hickox INF/RHP Dover (DE) 2017
Athletic frame with room to grow at 6-foot-1 155-pounds.  Hits from a balanced, athletic set up.  Short stride and simple load. Short bat path and stays inside the baseball.  Gets uphill at times and shows some bat speed.  Gets some lower half into swing. Exit velocity of 83 mph. Sound feet and hands from the infield. Should be able to speed up his exchange.  Throws from a high ¾ arm slot with some carry on his accurate throws at 78 mph. Ran a 7.34 60-yard dash.

Cade Rousseau 3B/RHP JM Bennett 2016
Athletic frame at 6-foot-1 185-pounds.  Hits from a tall slightly open set up.  Double tap load.  Shows some bat speed with a level bat path and some extension. Good balance and rhythm throughout swing. Exit velocity of 82 mph. Has active feet at third base with good hands and clean exchange.  Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with carry at 82 mph.  Ran a 7.76 60-yard dash.

Brett Swift 3B/RHP JM Bennett 2019
Good frame at 6-foot 175-pounds. Hits from an open set up.  Short leg kick and simple load.  Has a short bat path with average bat speed and some extension.  Exit velocity of 80 mph. Average hands and sound exchange.  Throws had some carry on them at 76 mph. High ¾ arm slot. Ran an 8.2 60-yard dash. Plenty of raw ability in the young 2019 prospect. Interesting prospect to follow and see how develops.

Avery Tunnell 2B Dover 2017
Nice frame at 5-foot-10 160-pounds. Hits from an athletic slightly open set up.  Simple load and small double tap. Short path to the ball with some extension through contact. Shows some bat speed and balance in swing.  Exit velocity of 85 mph.  Gap-to-gap type hitter. Clean footwork and soft hands and exchange from the infield.  Throws from a ¾ arm angle across the diamond at 72 mph. Interesting prospect to follow in the 2017 class as he increases arm strength.

Hunter White RHP/3B JM Bennet 2018
Solid frame at 5-foot-10 175-pounds. Hits from an athletic set up with lower half usage and some balance. Big leg kick to balance. Has a quick bat with a level path that gets uphill at times. Gap to gap type hitter with some rhythm. Exit velocity of 84 mph. Throws with a short arm action from a high ¾ arm angle. Made consistent throws with carry on them at 78 mph. Average hands with fluid feet. Gets flat footed at times. Clean exchange and plays thru the ball. Ran a 7.7 60-yard dash.

Jake Willis, SS/2B Calvert 2018
Skinny frame at 5-foot-8 140-pounds with time to fill out. Slightly close set up at the plate. Short stride and double tap mechanism.  Has balance in swing. Long, level path with average bat speed. Exit velocity was 71 mph.  Has a short and arm action throwing from a ¾ arm angle. Throws were consistent across the diamond with average carry at 65 mph. Soft hands with clean exchange that will quicken up.
