Team Virginia/Maryland took on Team Indiana for their final game of the Future Games which ended in a 6-6 tie. VA/MD had a 6-4 lead heading into the final inning but could not hold back an Indiana rally which tied the game up. VA/MD was led by Kristan Curry Jr on offense who was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases. James Moses hit an inside-the-park homerun and Cal Barrett was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Toma Shigaki-Than had another solid outing in his second appearance, facing the minimum hitters in an efficient fourth inning. The right handed pitcher sat at 84 mph with a sharp and late breaking 11/5 curveball at 75 mph. Emir Garrett and Michael Fuentes also pitched effectively for Team VA/MD.
This year marked the first that a team from the Virginia and Maryland area formed a team for the PBR Future Games.This inaugural team went 1-1-1 on the weekend, beating Team PA 5-3, losing to Team TN by a score of 7-6, and tied Team IN 6-6. All told the final scout count was over 150 college coaches and pro scouts that came in attendance at the Grand Park Baseball Complex in Westfield Indiana.
