sPBR Notes

2.7.16 - Mervis impressed both as a position player and pitcher at the Super 60 Pro Showcase. The Duke recruit showed nice infield actions and clean hands from the infield and will be an option at either corner infield position. At the plate Mervis showed good rhythm with an easy swing and a ball that jumped off his bat. On the mound Mervis sparked more interest with his simple delivery, throwing 88-90 mph with easy effort. His slider showed potential with short break at 81-83 mph and a change up with dive on the pitch up to 84 mph.

Mervis sat upon the top of the 2016 Maryland Rankings since our first release of the rankings. He was the first representative of Maryland to attend the Super60 Pro Showcase last February. He finished the season ranked No. 69 in the PBR Overall Rankings and was drafted in the 39th Round by the Washington Nationals. Mervis had let it be known that his intention was to attend Duke University where he had signed his NLI and that was the case as he is currently a freshman on the Duke roster.
