The inaugural Pennsylvania Travel Baseball State Championships are scheduled for August 19-21 at the Iron Horse Sports Complex in Windber. 10 teams from Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland, along with two teams organized by PBR, will participate. Two games will be played concurrently on neighboring fields in six time slots on the first two days of the event, with an abbreviated schedule on the final day. Blue Chips

Teammates dominate the roster here, as three high schools provide a good chunk of this squad's firepower.

Cumberland Valley 2017 outfielders Beck Way and Adam Overcash helped lead the Eagles to a PIAA Class AAAA state semifinal appearance this spring. Way is a 6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitter with significant room to add strength to his frame. He runs a 7.04 60-yard dash, has shown 92 mph arm strength from the outfield, and has featured a mid-80s fastball on the mound. Overcash is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed hitter with gap power potential and good wheels (3.97 on a push bunt in a state tournament game).

A trio from Loyola Blakefield (MD) are expected to show well. 2017 catcher Hunter Spalt is a physical 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitter who attacks the baseball with an intent to elevate. He receives well and has a solid exchange when throwing. His fellow 2017 catcher Jack Glock is a 6-foot, 210-pound right-handed hitter with a repeatable stroke that stays on plane and keeps him inside the baseball. 2018 RHP/IF Will Glock participated with Team Mid-Atlantic at the 2016 PBR Future Games, showing a fastball that touched 84 mph and a solid slider; also flashed some bat speed with solid defensive actions.

Athletic Calvert Hall (MD) 2017 left-handed pitcher Brennan Maher features a low-80s fastball, has shown some ability to spin a solid breaking ball, and has a change-up with fading action. Maher's high school teammate, 2017 first baseman Jimmy Elmore, has verbally committed to Messiah.
