This week we take one final look at the the roster from our Top Prospect Games at the University of Maryland. We continue today with a full analysis of the middle infielders starting with our top performers.

TOP MIDDLE INFIELD PERFORMERS

 

Jake Gelof SS / RHP / IMG Academy , DE / 2020

Long, lanky, athletic body type. Projectable 6-foot-1, 172 pound frame. Hits from an athletic, balanced, slightly open stance. Smooth back load with a leg kick. Explosive lower half movements and quick hands. Explosive bat speed with an exit velo up to 95 mph. Stays on and behind the ball with an uphill swing path. Gap-to-gap type hitter with present pull-side power. Attacks the ball and plays through it in the outfield. Fluid footwork and clean exchange. Long loose arm actions throwing from a high three-quarters arm slot at 94 mph. Good life on throws. Active feet and fluid actions in the infield. Plays through the ball with soft hands and a quick, clean exchange. Up to 92 mph across the diamond from shortstop. Ran a 4.22 home-to-first. 


Seif Ingram SS / 2B / Avalon, MD / 2019

Athletic, lankier body type. 5-foot-11, 165 pounds with room the grow and fill out. Ingram has great hands and is extremely smooth in the middle infield. Good arm strength hitting 86 mph across the diamond on the gun. Shorter, loose arm actions throwing from a high three-quarters slot. Showed the ability to make throws from all arm angles. Plays with active feet, plays through, and made several outstanding plays. At the plate, Ingram is a gap-to-gap hitter with occasional pop. Hits from a taller, open stance using some hand/bat movements and a toe tap for rhythm, load, and timing. Good lower half, is balanced and stays behind the ball well. Exit velo 80 mph. Explosive hands, fast bat speed and gets good extension through contact. More power in the bat projected.


Ryan Terrents SS / RHP / Huntingtown, MD / 2019

Long, solid, athletic body type. Projectable 6-foot-3, 190 pound frame. Hits from a taller, athletic, open stance at the plate. Sinks into lower half with an inverted front knee load. Longer stride creates good separation. Explosive lower half movements, quick hands and fast bat speed. Exit velo up to 92 mph. Great extension through contact and stays on the ball well. Slight uphill swing path, gap-to-gap type hitter with some power to all fields. Fluid actions and plays with active feet in the infield. Gets through the ball with soft hands and showed a clean exchange. Shorter arm actions throwing form a high three-quarters arm slot at 88 mph. Ran a 4.25 home-to-first. 


Dylan Young RHP / SS / Chesapeake (AA), MD / 2019

Athletic, compact body type. 5-foot-9, 150 pound frame. Hits from an athletic, balanced, square stance. Smooth rock back load with a small leg kick. Creates good separation and gets some lower half involvement finishing high. Quick hands and fast bat speed with an exit velo of 86 mph. Fluid rhythm at the plate with a slight uphill swing path. Line drive type hitter with occasional pop. Showed fluid actions in the infield. Plays through the ball with soft hands and a quick, clean exchange. Throws with shorter arm actions from a low three-quarters arm slot at 82 mph. Ran a 4.22 home-to-first. 


Derek Ohringer SS / C / Eleanor Roosevelt, MD / 2019

Athletic, lanky 6 foot, 160 pound body type and frame with room to grow and fill out. Hits from an athletic, balanced, slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth back load with a small leg kick. Showed some lower half involvement and bat speed. Shorter, slight uphill swing path with an exit velo of 83 mph. Gap-to-gap type hitter with occasional pop. Plays with active feet in the infield and has a good athletic setup. Plays through the ball with fluid footwork and soft hands. Quick, clean exchange with short arm actions throwing from a high three-quarters arm slot at 75 mph. Quiet body receiving behind the plate. Athletic quick footwork and exchange on pops ranging 1.97 - 2.22. Consistently accurate throws down to second base at 73 mph. Ran a 4.25 home-to-first.


Cameron King SS / 2B / Damascus, MD / 2019

Athletic, lanky body type. 5-foot-11, 155 pound frame with room to grow and fill out. Hits from an athletic, balanced, open stance at the plate. Uses a small leg kick and sometimes a toe tap for rhythm in load and timing. Explosive lower half involvement and some bat speed with an exit velo of 77 mph. Fluid rhythm and stays behind the ball well. Short, uphill swing path. Gap-to-gap type hitter with occasional pop. Very smooth actions in the infield. Plays loose with soft hands and with fluid footwork. Longer, loose arm actions throwing from a high three-quarters arm slot at 79 mph. Showed the ability to make throws from all arm angles.

Noah Ager SS/RHP Stephen Decatur 2020
Solid, compact, athletic 5-foot-10, 160 pound body type and frame. Plays with active feet and showed good actions in the infield. Athletic movements and plays through the ball with soft hands. Short arm action throwing from a high three-quarters slot. Ball has some carry across the diamond at 83 mph. Showed some pop at the plate to both fields. 

Graham Albers 2B/SS Oakdale 2020
Athletic body type with room to grow at 5-foot-7, 125 pounds. Hits from a tall, slightly open stance at the plate. Rock back load with a short stride and explosive lower half movements. Line drive type hitter with a short level swing path. Exit velo 80 mph. Plays with active feet and showed nice actions in the field. Soft hands, quick - clean exchange, playing through the ball. Throws with a short arm action from a low three-quarters slot at 77 mph. Ran a 4.25 home-to-first.

Zach Crampton SS/2B Saint James 2019
Athletic body type and projectable frame at 6’0’’, 190 pounds. Starts from a slightly wider base at the plate. Sinks into back side during load with an exaggerated front knee turn and small toe tap stride. Gets good separation and showed some fast bat speed. Level swing path with an exit velo of 92 mph. More of a line drive type hitter now with some power to the gaps. More power is projected at the plate as he continues to get stronger. Soft hands in the infield, moves well, shows good fielding actions, and works through the ball. Clean exchange with a longer arm action throwing from a high three-quarters slot at 82 mph. Also showed the ability to throw from multiple arm angles. Ran a 4.07 home-to-first.

Kenneth Fowler 2B/SS Kent County 2020
Solid 6-foot-1, 170 pounds frame. Hits from a slightly crouched, open stance at the plate. Quick back load with hands, small leg kick, and short stride. Short, aggressive, compact level swing path. Line drive type hitter with an exit velo of 79 mph. Has a tendency to close off his front side limiting his lower half from firing completely. Plays through the ball with good hands and a quick, clean exchange. Short arm actions throwing from a lower three-quarters arm slot at 79 mph. Ran a 4.54 home-to-first.

Cy Harwood 2B/SS Huntingtown 2020
Average, athletic body type. 5-foot-11, 165 frame with room to grow and fill out. Hits from an athletic and balanced, slightly crouched stance at the plate. Uses some bat wiggle and a high leg kick for rhythm and timing. Gets good separation and really uses his lower half in the swing. 81 mph exit velo. Fluid rhythm at the plate, quick hands and has a slightly uphill swing path. Line drive, gap-to-gap type hitter with occasional pop and ability to hit the ball well to all fields. Athletic in the infield, plays through the ball and showed nice fielding actions. Shorter arm actions from a lower three-quarters slot at 78 mph. Soft hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchange. Ran a 4.22 home-to-first.

William Manship SS/2B North Caroline 2019
Smaller, solid build at 5-foot-6, 145 pounds. Hits from an athletic, balanced, square stance at the plate. Shorter, smooth back load and average stride length. Gets some lower half involvement and has quick hands. Exit velo 85 mph. Short, level swing path and line drive type hitter. Moves well in the infield and plays through the ball. Good hands and nice footwork. Throws with short arm actions from a low three-quarters arm slot at 80 mph. Quick, clean exchanges. Ran a 4.31 home-to-first.

Eddie Meredith 2B/OF Manchester Valley 2020
Athletic, lanky body type. 5-foot-9, 155 pound frame with room to grow and fill out. Hits from an athletic, balanced, slightly closed stance. Uses a small leg kick load for rhythm and timing with a short stride. Good lower half involvement and some bat speed present. Short, level swing path with an exit velo of 76 mph. Line drive type hitter. Athletic in the infield, moves well and plays through the ball. Nice hands and a clean exchange. Short arm actions throwing from a low three-quarters almost sidearm slot. Ran a 4.21 home-to-first.

Will Mracna SS/OF North Allegheny (PA) 2020
Athletic, lanky body type and projectable 6 foot, 185 pound frame. Hits from a taller, athletic, open stance. Starts slightly on back side with hands pre-loaded. Gets some lower half involvement in his swing and showed quick bat speed. Level swing path with an exit velo of 87 mph. Line drive type hitter with occasional pop. Attacks the ball and plays through in the outfield. Longer arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot at 82 mph from the outfield and 81 mph from the infield. Athletic and moves well in the infield. Showed good hands and good footwork. Ran a 4.28 home-to-first.

Benjamin Russell SS/RHP Salesianum (DE) 2020
Athletic, lanky body type. Projectable 6-foot-2, 160 pound frame with room to fill out. Hits from a wider base at the plate with an athletic, balanced, open stance. Drops hands in load and uses a toe tap for rhythm and timing. Good lower half involvement, quick hands and fast bat speed. Exit velo was 84 mph. Slight uphill swing path and fluid rhythm throughout swing. Gap-to-gap type hitter with occasional pop. Smooth fielding actions in the infield. Plays through the ball with soft hands, fluid footwork, and a quick, clean exchange. Shorter arm actions throwing from a high three-quarters arm slot at 85 mph. Showed the ability to make throws from different arm angles.

Nico Santoro 2B/SS John Carroll 2019
Athletic, lanky 5-foot-10, 160 pound frame. Hits from an athletic, balanced, open stance. Preloaded with a short, quick stride. Does a good job getting his lower half involved in the swing and showed some bat speed with an exit velo of 86 mph. Level swing path and more of a line drive type hitter with occasional pop. Smooth actions in the infield and soft hands. Is athletic and moves well. Extremely quick and clean exchange. Shorter arm actions and throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot at 78 mph. Showed the ability to throw from various arm angles. Ran a 4.38 home-to-first.

Jaydon Whitehead 2B/3B CH Flowers 2019
Strong, compact, athletic 5-foot-7, 170 pound body type and frame. Hits from an athletic, balanced, open stance at the plate. Creates really good separation with a hand load and inverted front leg stride. Attacks the ball with good lower half involvement and quick bat speed. Exit velo up to 84 mph. Fluid rhythm with a shorter uphill swing path. Gap-to-gap type hitter with some pop. Showed good hands and nice footwork playing through the ball in the infield. Athletic, quick, and clean exchanges. Longer arm actions throwing from a lower three-quarters arm slot at 76 mph. Ran a 4.13 home-to-first.

Aaron Winsker SS/RHP Hereford 2019
Athletic, lanky body type and 5-foot-10, 165 pound frame. Hits from an athletic, balanced, slightly open stance. Rhythmic hands and inverted knee toe tap load. Generates good lower half involvement with quick hands and fast bat speed. Exit velo was up to 82 mph. Line drive type hitter with a slight uphill swing path. Plays with active feet and showed good actions in the infield. Plays through the ball with soft hands and fluid footwork. Quick, clean exchange throwing with shorter arm actions from a low three-quarters slot at 82 mph. Ran a 4.16 home-to-first.
