Long Recruiting Process Ends At Eastern For Stoakes

Braedon Stoakes OF / RHP / Grand Ledge, MI / 2019

GRAND LEDGE - The dream of playing Division I college baseball has been met. But for Braedon Stoakes, it’s just a start.

“It means a lot,” Stoakes said about making a commitment to Eastern Michigan. “I see it as a little trophy for all the hard work I’ve put in up to now. But I’ve got to keep working. It’s a little goal now, but I’ve always wanted to get to the bigger goal.”

The route to professional baseball for the 12th-rated player in the state’s 2019 class will go through EMU after a long recruiting process.

“They began seeing me at a PBR event at Eastern Michigan,” Stoakes said in reference to the 2017 Top Prospect Games. “They followed me with the Diamonds. I ended up taking a visit and I liked what I saw. Their practice was ran well and they have new upcoming facilities. A new coaching staff was also a big plus with me.”

There is also the opportunity to both pitch and play outfield for the incoming Grand Ledge senior, who was also getting interest from Western Michigan.
