Grandville Picks Win over Lowell
On a extremely windy night, senior left handed pitcher Oliver Jaskie went a strong 5 and 2/3 innings of work leading Grandville (1-0) to a season opening 3-2 victory over Lowell (0-1). Jaskie struck out 7 and gave up just one earned run. Mitch Dykstra pitched a perfect 1 and 1/3 innings to get the save for the Bulldogs. Junior center fielder Brian Cappiello was 2-4, scored a run, and stole a base in the win. Junior catcher Jake Garbarino had one hit with an RBI.
Jarrod Melle threw a complete game for Lowell and struck out 7 in the loss.
Lowell right fielder Garrett Gordon had two hits and two stolen bases. Second baseman Kyler Shurlow had one hit and scored a run.
Taylor Kennedy Knocks Off Melvindale
Kennedy's Matt Woloszyk pitched six innings allowing one unearned run on four hits and ten strikeouts with no walks allowed. Junior left-handed pitcher Tyler Butzin came in the seventh inning to shut the door and struck out the side in order.
Woloszyk led the way offensively picking up two hits and three runs batted in. Jalen Bartos added one hit and two runs batted in for Kennedy.
