Top Ranked Brother Rice Sweep Doubleheader with No. 12 Orchard Lake St. Mary’s
Two of the top teams in the state squared off between Brother Rice(4-1-1) and OLSM(1-3). Brother Rice won the first 6-3 and the second game 8-0.
Bowling Green State commit Randy Righter was the winning pitcher in the first game. Wayne State commit Devin Rose led OLSM with a home run and a double.
In the second game, No. 1 ranked 2016 Karl Kauffmann (Michigan) and Tommy Lentz (Regis) combined for a two hit shutout for Brother Rice. OLSM's two hits came from Rose.
Gull Lake Sweeps Doubleheader
Gull Lake(2-0) ranked 15th in the preseason polls swept a double-header from Kalamazoo Christian(0-2). In the first game, senior Walter Graf picked up the win on the mound, allowing just one hit in an 11-1 victory. Graf also collected two hits. Nolan Butcher had two hits and drove in two runs. Drew Blakely, the No.2 rated player in the 2016 class, drove in four runs.
In game two, No. 11 ranked 2016 Caleb Scoles earned his first varsity career win on the mound, combining with Jarett White for a no-hitter in a 15-0 win. Graf collected three more hits and Alex Janssen had two hits and drove in four runs.
