Michigan Top Ten Breakdown: Top Viewed Prospect Profiles - #8 Drew Blakely

Drew Blakely#8 Drew Blakely, C, Gull Lake, 2016 (Virginia commit)
Background: Blakely is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound two-way prospect. In 2013, Blakely had one of the most impressive performances at the 2013 Midwest Futures Tryouts. Beyond his ability to catch, Blakely hoped on the mound and sat 87-88 mph off the bump. The lanky 6-foot-2, 175-pound righty has a good frame with broader shoulders. Arm was lightning quick. Smoother delivery with more in the tank.  Breaking ball spun well but backed up a bit. Showed 12/6 shape at 68-69 mph. Blakely threw the changeup and sold it well at 72-73 mph.

The future Cavalier has not been to a PBR showcase since 2013, but thanks to PBR coverage during the HS spring season and some national exposure, Blakely sits ranked 2nd in the state and 52nd overall within the PBR rankings. Blakey will look to use his momentum from 2015, that saw the C named to Michigan's Preseason All-State Team, as a springboard for his success in 2016.
