Michigan Top Ten Breakdown: Top Viewed Prospect Profiles - #8 Jacob Erickson
#8 Jacob Erickson, SS/RHP, Allen Park, 2018 (Michigan State commit)
Scouting Report: Erickson has an athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pound build. He stands tall and uses an aggressive stride. He showed good bat speed and some raw power to the pull side. His exit velocity is 91 mph and he runs a 6.67 60-yard dash. In the infield, he shows good footwork with a quick first step and good hands. His velocity across the diamond is an impressive 87 mph. On the mound, he throws from a high-3/4 arm slot and has a quick arm action. His fastball sits 87-88 mph with some late run occasionally. His curveball sits 70-71 mph and had sharp 11/5 break. His changeup had some run at 72-73 mph.
Overview: In 2016, the talented two-way prospect checks in at the 6th spot in the state prospect rankings and 203rd overall. The Allen Park product showed well at the 2016 Preseason All State Showcase as well as at Grand Park, representing Team Michigan at the Future Games. Erickson committed to the Spartans soon after the Future Games. The junior has two years of high school baseball left and look for the 5-foot-11 two-way product to improve in many aspects over those two years.
