Recruiting News Around Michigan

By Mike Penn
Michigan Director of Scouting

Here is a list of some of the latest commitments around the state.

Class of 2013

Brennan Kerr, SS, Battle Creek Lakeview HS, 2013- The saying goes, “Good things come to those who wait.” Kerr is a prime example of this.  He performed well back in October at the Unsigned Senior event where it was another chance to be seen.  Kerr then put up good numbers this spring and finally committed to Michigan State this week.

Pat Gaudard, INF, Gull Lake HS, 2013- Setting the all-time hits record at Gull Lake is not an easy feat.  But the way Gaudard can swing the stick it certainly isn’t surprising that this senior will walk away from Gull Lake as a 4-year starter, captain, all-time hits leader, and East-West All-Star Game participant.  He can now add Jackson Community College commit to his resume.

Chad Roskelly, C, Macomb Dakota HS, 2013
- Roskelly committed to play at Michigan State recently. Roskelly has pop in the bat and is only now starting to realize his potential in baseball as he was a hockey player first. He is a good athlete that could potentially play in the infield if called upon as well.

Ben Hart, Inf, Rochester HS, 2013- Hart is a pure hitter.  He also performed well at a PBR event back in the offseason.  Hart should provide much needed punch to the Oakland Grizzlie lineup.

Garrett Soule, Inf, Dansville HS, 2013- Soule is another pure hitter.  He played short for Dansville this season and hit .487 on the year.  Soule has signed to play with Kellogg Community College.

Greg Goffee, SS, Dexter HS, 2013- Goffee is a pure ball player.  He is heady and and quick.  He has committed to play at Alma College for Scott Kingston.  As Goffee matures physically he should make a difference in the Alma lineup.

MacKay Little, 1B/RHP, Dexter HS, 2013- Little had a slow start to the year after breaking his wrist in football.  But he picked it up at the end and ended up leading the Dexter pitching staff.  Little has committed to play at Jackson Community College as a pitcher.

Class of 2014

Hosea Nelson, OF, De La Salle HS, 2014- Nelson is an athletic outfielder with a raw toolset.  He is put together well and plays the game hard.  Nelson committed to Oakland University.

Class of 2015

Nick Azar, SS, Univ. Liggett HS, 2015- Azar is an outstanding hockey player in addition to his baseball abilities.  Azar becomes the fourth commitment in the state from the Class of 2015.  He still has a ways to go in terms of polish but he stands at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds and has solid tools.  Azar committed to Michigan on Monday.
