Jack Crighton 3B / 2B / Orchard Lake St. Marys, MI / 2022

ROCHESTER HILLS - A year ago Jack Crighton was a catcher and second baseman. This past high school season, the 2022 at Orchard Lake St. Marys played third base. As part of Tri-State Arsenal this summer, Crighton saw time at second, third and in the outfield.

That versatility caught the eyes of the University of Michigan coaching staff.

“They like how I can play any position, how I can run and how I can do everything they said they want to see,” the ninth-rated sophomore in the state explained. “They started talking to me at the start of high school season. Coach (Erik) Bakich came to one of my practices and then to one of my games in Toledo this summer and I played really well. We had a great connection.”

It led to an offer and commitment as the summer was turning to August.

“They said I was very projectable,” the 6-1 155-pounder noted. “I’m guessing I’ll be in the infield, but I can play outfield, too. They said they don’t know a position yet, that I should just keep playing all of them.”

No problem there for Crighton, who was born and raised in Michigan.

“It’s really exciting playing for my home state school and having people I know be able to come and watch me,” Crighton said. “I’m going to the school that I’ve always wanted to go to. I’ve always been a Michigan fan.”

He has also been a fan of college baseball.
