UNDERCLASS PLAYERS TO WATCH
Eden Prairie has depth and talent in the 2016 class. Leading the way is Nebraska commit, Jeff Athey, a left-handed hitting 1B/3B, who was Eden Prairie Legion's leading hitter last summer. 2-way players Trevor Divinski, Charlie Sheehan and Mark Ehresman will contribute as well. Wesley Young is an up-and-coming infielder and OF Spenser Larson showed well at last week's Preseason All-State event. Projectable 6-foot-5 RHP Ryan Swanson also looks to be able to compete for innings and possibly be a difference maker for the Eagles.
X-FACTOR
The Eagles lost a majority of their starters from last year's State Runner-up squad. On paper it looks like they have the ability to re-load with many talented 2015's and 2016's ready to go.
2015 OUTLOOK
The Eagles will have a young but talented group in 2015. Eden Prairie has a lot to replace from last year's team, but expect great senior leadership and some talent at the younger levels to work in their favor. Head Coach John Buteyn feels this a group that will continue to get better with every practice and game. The Lake Conference will be very competitive this year with Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Edina, Wayzata and Hopkins battling it out day in and out. On paper Eden Prairie has impressive depth on the mound for a high school team; and project to have multiple D1 commitments in the future. Mark your calendars; Eden Prairie vs. Minnetonka should be one of the better match-ups this spring. Good luck to the Eagles as they begin preparing for 2015.
