ADAM STANTON - IOWA WESTERN

PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

Stanton: I chose Iowa Western because when I went on my visit and met all the coaches and saw the campus/facilities I knew I was at the perfect place.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Stanton: There were many schools that I was considering but my top schools were Iowa Western, UW-Milwaukee, and NDSU.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Stanton: I was at a tournament in Iowa pitching and the Iowa Western pitching coach happened to be at the same tournament coaching for another team. He saw me pitching in the game and contacted their recruiting director. He then reached out to me from there.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Stanton: I am so relieved that the process is over because now I am able to focus on developing for college ball.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Stanton: I think my deciding factor was where I knew I could develop best as a pitcher. I knew that Iowa Western produced the best pitchers in the league, so I wanted to be a part of that.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

Stanton: I would say my parents have helped me get to where i'm at today because they have been the ones driving me to games and practices ever since i was a kid. They've always supported me and gave me every possible choice I could have made.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Stanton: I was expecting it to be difficult and very stressful, but it turned out to be fun. It was amazing seeing the amount of schools that want you to come play for them. However, it was stressful towards the end when I was nearing my decision.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Stanton: The coaching staff and I have very high expectations. We all know nothing is given but earned so i will be competing at my very best to get a spot in the starting rotation. Both the coaching staff and I both believe that is a very realistic goal.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Stanton: My most memorable baseball moment surprisingly is the time I gave up my first homerun. It was a game in Wisconsin against another travel ball team. We were playing on this older field and the wind was blowing out. The batter was this big lefty who had the biggest swing. I tried my best to strike the batter out but on a 1-2 count i gave him a perfect inside fastball then he turned on and absolutely crushed the ball over the left field fence.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

Stanton: The best player I have competed against in Jackson Wentworth. We faced off at Creekside in a very close game. We both were having great games, but a few fielding errors cost us the game.
