Prep Baseball Report Minnesota

On Saturday, March 13th, 2021, Prep Baseball Report Minnesota will be conducting its 3rd Jr. Future Games Trial Event, to be held at the St. Michael Albertville Dome. The Junior Future Games Trials will be used to identify players to represent Minnesota at the 2021 PBR Junior Future Games at LakePoint. The PBR Junior Future Games is a national event that will take place at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. The event will run in accordance with the PBR Future Games, which attracts over 300 college coaches from across the country.  The 2021 Junior Future Games will feature the best 2025 prospects in the country. Players will participate in a pro-style workout during the duration of the event.

Since the last trials event we have our first commitment to Team Minnesota for the Junior Future Games. Ben Schefers, from Norwood Young America. The 5-11, 155lb RHP/C showed very well at the first Trial event in August. The well rounded 2025 grad showed advanced skills at the plate, behind the dish, and on the mound.

During the second event in West. St. Paul Joe Timmerman of Rosemount, MN and Hunter VaDeer of Lyle, MN both topped fastballs over 80 mph. Isaac Marek of Chanhassen, MN also touted a max fastball of 77mph and an exit velocity of 88mph off of a tee. There are many top players in the 2025 class to keep an eye on, and more high level players to be identified at the March 13th event.

This event is designed with four main pillars in mind. The first part of this event is educational. There will be a lecture about what scouts look for, how to comport themselves, what to expect in the recruiting process, and the overall landscape of playing at the next level. The second function of this event will be for players to create baseline numbers for themselves to improve and see where they compare to other players their age across the state. The third reason for this event is for PBR to have an in-depth look at the best young players and the future of the state. The fourth function of the event is to identify players to represent the state of Minnesota at the PBR Junior Future Games held at LakePoint in Cartersville GA in August of 2021. The showcase will be featured on the PBR’s website, where more than 900 college coaches subscribe to look for talent. Scouting reports, statistics, and videos will be hosted in player profiles. Top players will also be identified from this event.
