Prep Baseball Report Minnesota

The last time we looked at the 2018 rankings in Minnesota was the middle of August. A lot has happened since then, with several showcases, tournaments, fall games and camps. The new rankings have extended from 50 to 80 players with shakeups throughout.

The Top 10 remains largely intact with the only change coming at the No. 8  spot.

Ben Smith (South St. Paul), who comes in at No. 8, has an strong 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame and sat 85-87 mph at the MN Fall Review in October. Most impressive about Smith was his easy actions on the mound and ability to pump strikes with 3 pitches.

Seth Halvorsen (Heritage Christian Academy), Aidan Maldonado (Rosemount) and Tommy Springer (Eastview) still sit atop the 2018 rankings in Illinois. Halvorsen and Springer are both committed to Missouri; and Maldonado recently committed to Illinois.

Other committed players in the Top 10 include Nick Juaire (Lakeville North) who is committed to Texas Christian; #7 Zach Raabe (Forest Lake) and #10 Otto Grimm (Bemidji) are both committed to Minnesota.

LHP Nick Lommen (Minnetonka), LHP/OF Brock Anderson (Alexandria), and C Ryan Wrobleski (Eden Prairie) are currently the highest ranked uncommitted players in the 2018 class.
