The PBR MN Unsigned Senior Showcase took place on Sunday, August 18, 2019. The event was held at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. The event featured uncommitted prospects from the 2020 grad class; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance. 

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the PBR MN Unsigned Senior Showcase event.

INFIELDER EVALUATIONS

Jon Affeldt, 2B, Monticello, 2020
5-foot-7, 170-pound left-handed hitting second baseman.  7.47 runner.  Relaxed open stance.  Strides to square with shoulder load.  Slightly uphill swing plane and stays through ball.  Mid/pull approach with line drive contact.  Consistent contact with 69 mph exit velocity.  IF- Works high to low and sits back to field.  Average glove.  75 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy. 

Joey Anderson, 1B/RHP, Burnsville, 2020
6-foot-3, 205-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.63 runner.  Open balanced stance.  Toe tap trigger with hand load.  Dives into swing.  Swing plane works down to contact.  Short and stiff finish.  Middle approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Inconsistent barrel with 80 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average feet and can get long to release.  Average glove and works high to low.  Average carry and accuracy with 72 mph arm strength.  On mound- Big frame and mound presence.  Simple step and good tempo through delivery.  Good balance.  Arm works from a ¾ arm slot with good arm action.  Fastball is heavy at 76-79 mph topping at 80 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with loose spin at 59-62 mph.  Change-up is straight and cut at times at 65-68 mph. 

Owens Bernards, 1B, St. Paul Central, 2020
6-foot-1, 220-pound right-handed hitting first baseman.  8.13 runner.  Slightly closed stance.  Quick and hitchy load.  Toe tap trigger.  Gap to gap approach with line drive contact.  Raw overall and shows some strength in swing.  79 mph exit velocity.  IF- Plays and fields high.  Feet can be heavy.  Makes routine with stiff glove.  67 mph arm strength with tail carry and good accuracy. 

Jon Blanchette, Aitkin, 1B/RHP, 2020
6-foot, 215-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.64 runner.  Open stance with high handset.  Quick knee to knee and hand load.  Some lift in swing plane.  Middle approach with mainly fly ball contact.  Average contact with some pop in barrel.  80 mph exit velocity.  IF- Fields high and tend to sit back.  Glove make routine plays.  74 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On mound- Simple turn into slow and smooth tempo.  Lands with good direction and shorter stride.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is straight with slight cut at times thrown at 75-77 mph topping at 78 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with average shape at 66-68 mph.  Change-up is straight at 68-70 mph. 

Ryan Boyd, LHP/1B, Spencer (IA), 2020
6-foot-4, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.58 runner.  Open and upright stance.  Strides to square with small hand load.  Slight arm bar.  Flat swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball to fly ball contact.  Inconsistent barrel contact and 77 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average feet and will sit back at times.  Fields ball clean.  75 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On mound- Projectable frame.  Small rocker into turn and balance point.  Higher leg lift and lands across body.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot and wraps behind.  Fastball is 74-76 mph topping at 77 mph for strikes and hide ball.  Curveball has inconsistent release point with average feel at 63-64 mph.  Change-up is firm with occasional run at 70-73 mph. 

James Brinda, SS, Coon Rapids, 2020
5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed hitting shortstop.  6.98 runner.  Open and upright stance.  Leg lift and hand load.  Stiff hands.  Slightly uphill swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball to fly ball contact.  Average contact with 84 mph exit velocity.  IF- Active feet.  Average glove and fields ball clean.  Throws from a lower arm slot.  79 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry. 

Benjamin Bruce, 2B, Maranatha Christian, 2020
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting second baseman.  7.07 runner.  Open stance with high handset.  Small leg lift and strides to square.  Barrel has some length to contact.  Shows some bat speed.  Mid/pull approach with mainly line drive and fly ball contact.  Average contact with occasional pop and 75 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average feet and moves well laterally.  Stays low to field.  Glove can be late at times.  Good carry and average accuracy with 78 mph arm strength. 

David Campbell, 1B, Hopkins, 2020
6-foot-1, 230-pound right-handed hitting first baseman.  8.58 runner.  Upright and relaxed stance.  Toe tap trigger and hand load.  Arm bar.  Flat swing plane and comes around contact.  Pull approach with fly ball contact.  Some strength in swing.  72 mph exit velocity.  IF- Sits back and fields ball high.  Glove is stiff.  Fade carry and average accuracy and 63 mph arm strength. 

Noah Christenson, SS/RHP, Buffalo, 2020
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.21 runner.  Open and upright stance.  Leg lift trigger and hand load.  Flat swing plane.  Hand can be stiff.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average barrel and occasional barrel pop. 79 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average actions.  Good feet.  Fields out in front and makes routine play.  Longer arm action.  80 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On mound- Rocker step into quick leg lift.  Drops and drive down mound.  Lands slightly across body.  Throws from a higher ¾ arm slot.  Some push release.  Fastball is straight at 78-79 mph topping at 80 mph.  Curveball has big 11/5 break thrown at 64-66 mph.  Change-up has fade action with good arm speed at 70-71 mph. 

Carter Dox, 2B/RHP, Aitkin, 2020
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  6.71 runner.  Balanced stance with high handset.  Stride to start and small hand load down.  Barrel has some length to contact.  Gap to gap approach with fly ball contact.  Solid contact with average barrel.  78 mph exit velocity.  IF- Glove flips out with some squat to field.  Average feet and can get long.  Good carry and below average accuracy with 83 mph arm strength.  On mound- Simple and slower tempo delivery.  Throws with some effort.  Higher ¾ arm slot.  Fastball has some life with cut action at 81-82 mph.  Curveball has inconsistent feet thrown at 62-65 mph.  Change-up has average feel at 71-74 mph.

Nolan Drill, 1B/RHP, New Ulm, 2020
5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.50 runner.  Upright open stance.  Double stride and hand load.   Good balance through swing.  Consistent swing plane.  Middle approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Good contact with strength in barrel.  82 mph exit velocity.  IF- Sits back and field ball deep.  Average glove.  76 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry.  On mound- Simple and repeatable delivery.  Stays tall through release.  Throws from a ¾ arm action.  Fastball is straight thrown at 73-74 mph topping at 75 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with average shape at 62-65 mph.  Change-up is straight at 68-71 mph. 

Patrick Fontaine, SS/OF, Chaska, 2020
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting short stop.  7.08 runner.  Slightly open athletic stance.  Pre-loaded hands and toe tap trigger.  Looks to elevate.  Mid/pull approach with fly ball contact.  Average contact and shows strength in barrel.  81 mph exit velocity.  IF- Good feet to field and through release.  Average glove and fields high.  Quick release.  Good carry and average accuracy with 79 mph arm strength.  OF- Average feet and glove.  Fields through ball.  Good carry and accuracy with 86 mph arm strength. 

Peyton Grant, SS, Marshall, 2020
5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitting short stop.  6.93 runner.  Open and balanced stance.  Toe tap trigger.  Hand and body load.  Average swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with mainly line drive contact.  Solid contact with some pop in barrel.  77 mph exit velocity.  IF- Shows some athleticism.  Works around ball to field.  Glove funnels.  81 mph arm strength with good carry and below average accuracy. 

Soren Grant, C/1B, Patrick Henry, 2020
5-foot-11, 220-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.81 runner.  Balanced upright stance.  Bod load with small hand load.  Aggressive swing.  Swing plane works down to contact.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average contact and flashes pop in barrel.  898 mph exit velocity.  C- Well balanced and stays square.  Glove works middle of body and can be stiff.  Can be slow to block at times.  Average exchange and long footwork to release.  2.15-2.40 pop times.  Fade carry with average accuracy and 74 mph arm strength.  IF- Average feet.  Glove is stiff and makes routine play.  Short arm action.  70 mph arm strength with fade carry with average accuracy.

Alex Gwost, RHP/2B, Little Falls, 2020
6-foot-3, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.36 runner.  Open athletic stance.  Leg lift trigger and hand load.  Flatt swing plane and pushes barrel through zone.  Pull approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Inconsistent barrel with 76 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average feet and tends to sit back.  Feet stay moving through throw.  Average glove.  76 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On mound- Frame has room to fill.  Simple delivery and repeats.  Higher leg lift.  Lands down mound across body with a short stride.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot with long arm action.  Fastball is varying with slight downhill action at 75-77 mph topping at 78 mph.  Curveball has small 11/5 late break thrown at 70-73 mph.  Change-up has above average fade action at 69-72 mph.  

Carter Hemmesch, 1B, Sartell, 2020
6-foot-2, 220-pound left-handed hitting first baseman.  7.69 runner.  Squared balanced stance.  Small leg lift and hand load.  Flat swing plane with short and stiff finish.  Pull approach with mainly ground ball contact.  Inconsistent contact with 81 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average glove and stiff at times.  Works high to low.  Feet can get long.  Short arm action.  Average accuracy and fade carry with 74 mph arm strength. 

Jack Jones, 3B, Holy Angels, 2020
6-foot, 165-pound left-handed hitting third baseman.  7.60 runner.  Open stance with weight started slightly back.  Leg lift trigger and hand load back.  Slight arm bar and works around contact.  Swing plane works down to contact.  Mid/pull approach with mainly ground ball contact.  Inconsistent contact with 77 mph exit velocity.  IF- Works around ball to field with some squat.  Slinger type arm action.  Fade carry and good accuracy with 69 mph arm strength. 

Logan Kimbler, 1B/3B, Rogers, 2020
6-foot-4, 220-pound right-handed hitting first baseman. Balanced and squared stance.  Toe tap trigger and hand load down.  Slight uphill swing plane.  Mid/pull swing with line drive and fly ball contact.  Consistent contact with strength in barrel.  84 mph exit velocity.  IF- Longer footwork and fields ball deep.  Glove flips out to field.  76 mph arm strength with average carry and good accuracy.  Looks more comfortable at first.  Possible follow bat into Spring. 

Kyle Kirtz, RHP/3B, Eden Prairie, 2020
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.82 runner.  Upright stance.  Small leg lift and hand load.  Pushes barrel through zone.  Short and stiff finish.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball contact.  Inconsistent contact with 67 mph exit velocity.  IF- Long footwork.  Fields ball high and deep.  Average carry and accuracy with 77 mph arm strength.  On mound- Simple step into delivery.  Lands down mound across body.  Throws from a ¾ arm action.  Fastball is 76-78 mph topping at 79 mph with some life.  Curveball has 11/5 break thrown at 65-68 mph.  Change-up has solid action thrown with average feel at 70-72 mph. 

Quinn Krueger, RHP/2B, Woodbury, 2020
5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  The #140 ranked player in 2020 class.  7.30 runner.  Balanced setup.  Body and hand load back.  Stays tall at contact.  Flat swing plane.  Gap to gap approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Solid barrel contact with 80 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet sit back and works around to field.  Average glove.  82 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On mound- Bigger rocker step into leg swing and down mound.  Lands with a shorter stride.  Throws with a ¾ arm slot with average arm action.  Fastball is sneaky with slight run thrown at 82-83mph topping at 84 mph.  Curveball has late break and slider shape at 74-75 mph.  Slider has more cut action thrown at 74-75 mph.  Change-up has fade action at 72-74 mph. 

Zachary Leibold, RHP/3B, Royalton, 2020
5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  8.10 runner.  Slightly closed stance with high handset.  Strides and small hand load.  Flat swing plane with short finish.  Pull approach with ground ball to fly ball contact.  Inconsistent barrel contact with 77 mph exit velocity.  IF- Heavy feet and fields high.  Stiff glove and fields ball deep.  Sling arm action.  73 mph arm strength with some tail carry.  On mound- Small rocker step and turn into balance position.  Shorter stride and stays upright through release.  Throws with some effort from a ¾ arm slot and short arm action.  Fastball has varying action at 74-75 mph.  Curveball has early 11/5 break with average feel thrown at 62-64 mph.  Change-up is thrown with average arm speed and feel at 70-72 mph. 

Anders Lind, SS, St. Paul Central, 2020

Nicholas Moxley, SS/RHP, Eagan, 2020
6-foot-2, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.40 runner.  Upright and open stance.  Strides to square and simple hand load.  Flat swing plane and pushes bat through zone.  Gap to gap approach with line drive contact.  Solid contact with average barrel.  73 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average actions.  Glove is average and can get out late.  Work to ball and through throw.  Shows ability to throw from different arm angles.  Average carry and accuracy with 73 mph exit velocity.  On mound- Long and lanky frame with room to fill out.  Throws from stretch.  Leg lift and hands drop and work back up.  Throws from a ¾ arm action with short arm action.  Fastball is straight at 79-80 mph topping at 81 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break thrown at 66-69 mph.  Change-up has slight run at 70-74 mph. 

Jackson Nelson, OF/SS, Park, 2020
6-foot-1, 150-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  7.25 runner.  Slightly closed upright stance.  Hand load down and back with small leg lift.  Arm bar creating length to contact.  Mid/pull approach with mainly groundball contact.  Inconsistent contact with 78 mph exit velocity.  IF- Tends to field high.  Glove is stiff.  Average feet.  74 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  OF- Average glove and fields ball clean.  Feet are good to field and have some length to release.  79 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy. 

Tyler Penny, 3B/RHP, River Falls (WI), 2020
6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.63 runner.  Squared balanced stance.  Leg lift and hand load.  Arm bar at times creating length to contact.  Stays over back side through swing.  Gap to gap approach with line drive contact.  Solid contact with 80 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average glove.  Feet stay active to field and through release.  80 mph arm strength with below average accuracy and fade carry.  On mound- Bigger rocker step.  Turns into leg lift and get down mound.  Front leg swings slightly open and lands with good direction.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is 75-79 mph topping at 80 mph with arm side run.  Curveball has 10/4 break with slurve action at 65-69 mph.  Change-up is thrown at 72-75 with run and sink. 

Brad Radtke, 1B/2B, Forest Lake, 2020
5-foot-11, 220-pound left-handed hitting first baseman.  8.07 runner.  Open balanced stance.  Strides to square with small body and hand load.  Swing is in and out of zone.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Inconsistent barrel with 73 mph exit velocity.  IF- Active feet.  Average glove and makes routine play.  Fields ball high at times.  67 mph arm strength with fade carry and good accuracy.

Jack Ramthun, RHP/1B, Litchfield, 2020
6-foot-2, 220-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  8.41 runner.  Wider open stance.  Toe tsp trigger and some hitch in hand load.  Swing plane works down to contact.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball to fly ball contact.  Some strength to swing with 76 mph exit velocity.  IF- Heavy feet and sits bac to field.  Average glove and works high to low.  Fade carry and average accuracy with 68 mph arm strength.  On mound- Balanced into rocker step.  Turns into leg lift.  Slower tempo through delivery.  Lands down mound across body.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is straight thrown at 72-74 mph.  Curveball has 10/4 break with small shape and spins at 59-64 mph.  Change-up has down action at 67-70 mph. 

Mitchell Remarcik, RHP/SS, Burnsville, 2020
6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.33 runner.  Open stance.  Strides to square with small hand load.  Easy swing with slight uphill swing plane.  Uses the whole field with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average contact with some pop.  79 mph exit velocity.  IF- Works around ball and fields high.  Average glove and makes routing play.  Average carry and accuracy with 78 mph arm strength.  On mound- Simple rocker step into smooth tempo delivery.  Lands across body.  Amr works and throws from a ¾ arm slot.  Fastball has sinking action at 80-81 mph topping at 84 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with average depth thrown at 66-67 mph.  Slider has late break at 71-72 mph.  Change-up has down action at 75-76 mph. 

Nick Renk, 2B, Benilde St. Margaret’s, 2020
6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting second baseman.  7.16 runner.  Open balanced stance.  Hand load and small leg lift.  Flat to slightly up hill swing plane.  Shorter finish.  Mid/pull approach with mainly ground ball and line drive contact.  Average contact with 82 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet move well to field.  Average glove.  76 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy. 

Matthew Sauer, C/3B, Benilde St. Margaret’s, 2020
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.63 runner.  Slightly open upright stance.  Knee to knee and long hand load.  Slightly uphill swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Average contact with 70 mph exit velocity.  C- Athletic stance.  Glove works low to high.  Stays square and show ability to hold pitches.  Average movements to block.  Average exchange with longer foot work.  Short arm action.  2.13-2.25 pop times.  72 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  IF- Average feet and glove.  Makes routine play.  Glove can come out late.  76 mph arm strength with good carry and average accuracy. 

Taite Shelstad, SS, Red Wing, 2020

Bennett Sommers, 1B, Eden Prairie, 2020

Dillon Stai, RHP/1B, Centennial, 2020
