The PBR MN Winter Open- Mankato event took place on Sunday, March 1, 2020. The event was held at the new Maverick All-Sports Dome in Mankato, MN. The event featured prospects from the 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023 grad classes; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance. 

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the PBR MN Winter Open- Mankato event.

CATCHER EVALUATIONS

Kyle Bridger, Mankato East, 2022
Position Profile:
C
Body: 6-1, 160lbs.  Projectable frame.
Defense: Clean exchange.  Shoulder turn to throw with short arm action.  Glove works low to high, tends to stab.
Arm: RH, 69 mph arm strength with 2.31-2.44 pop times.
Hit: RHH, Shoulder width stance.  Hands drop on load.  Slightly down to flat swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Average barrel contact through round.
Power: 77 mph exit velocity.
Run: 7.37 – 60

Jack Giesen, New Prague 2022
Position Profile:
C
Body: 5-10, 160lbs
Defense: Balanced, clean exchange with longer footwork to throw.  Can take pitch out of zone receiving.  Moves well to block.
Arm: RH, 79 mph arm strength with 2.02-2.11 pop times.
Hit: RHH, Balanced stance, hand load down, dives into swing.  Swing plane works down to contact, with average barrel.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.
Power: 82 mph exit velocity
Run: 7.71 - 60

Blake Mellgren, Northfield, 2021
Position Profile:
C
Body: 5-10, 170lbs
Defense: Average exchange, longer footwork.  Good balance, glove works high to low.  Can hold pitches in zone.
Arm: RH, 73 mph arm strength.  Some push to release. 2.16-2.22 pop times.
Hit: RHH, Wider stance, high handset.  Long to contact with slight arm bar.  Mid/oppo approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Some stiffness through swing.
Power: 79 mph exit velocity
Run: 7.27 - 60

Ty Neils, Mankato West, 2023
Position Profile: C
Body: 6-1, 170lbs.  Good younger frame
Defense: Reaches to exchange, longer feet.  Good balance, glove works low to high.  Tends to struggle with glove at times.
Arm: RH, 76 mph arm strength with 2.25-2.28 pop times.
Hit: LHH, Closed stance.  Longer knee to knee load.  Shorter finish.  Middle approach and ground ball and line drive contact.  Inconsistent barrel.
Power: 80 mph exit velocity
Run: 7.58 - 60

Nick Trucke, Watertown-Mayer, 2020
Position Profile:
C
Body: 6-0, 190lbs.  Shows strength
Defense: Clean exchange with longer feet.  Good balance and set up. Glove works low to high.  Average to block and keeps ball in font.
Arm: RH, 76 mph arm strength with 2.10-2.20 pop times.
Hit: RHH, Balanced stance with leg lift trigger.  Aggressive swing.  Gap to gap approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Flashes pop in bat with strength.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity
Run: 7.22 - 60
