Cole Gnetz, RHP/UTL, Cretin-Derham Hall, Class of 2015

PBR:  Why did you choose the University of Miami- Ohio?

GNETZ: I chose Miami because I fell in love with the campus right away when I first visited, and I really got along with the coaching staff. I think we're on the same page and Coach Hayden has the whole team thinking about Omaha.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?

GNETZ: I was considering Wichita State, Arizona State, Oregon, Jacksonville University and University of Cincinnati.

PBR:  Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

GNETZ: They first saw me when I sent my recruiting film to them, then they later watched me play in the Senior Fall Classic in Arizona.

PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?

GNETZ: I want to come in and earn a spot as an impact player right away, on the mound and at the plate. I'm willing to accept any role Coach Hayden gives me that will help us win.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

GNETZ: My dad, easily. He has always been there to coach me through things, whether it be on the field or off. I definitely wouldn't be the player I am today without him.

PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?

GNETZ: I have worked on the little things mechanics wise in my pitching motion, and a lot on my command of the strike zone.

PBR: Who is the toughest player that you have faced in Minnesota?

GNETZ: I'd have to say Ty Buck. He's a pure hitter and definitely a tough bat to face, but I'm always up for the challenge.

PBR:  What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for future players in your position.

GNETZ: My advice would be to take it all in because it only happens once. Make sure you get yourself out there to all the coaches so you can put yourself on their radar.
