8.17 Class of 2015 Prospect Games Analysis: Infielders

On August 17 at the University of Central Missouri, Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the Class of 2015 Prospect Games.  The event featured 60 of the top uncommitted players in the state, with some players verbally committing since the event. There were several two-way players (pitcher + position player) at this event, but keep in mind that the evaluations below are based on the infield side only.

Below are the scouting reports, listed in alphabetical order, for all infielders that participated in the event. Click on the player's headline link to be directed to their profile with video from their performance.

Mitchel Brown (St. Louis Patriots Homeschool, 1B, 2015)
Brown is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-hand hitting first baseman. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.50. At the plate, Mitchel has an athletic setup. He maintains a level bat path through his swing. Brown's swing produces line drives and he has power to all fields. He had an exit velo of 83 MPH. Brown recently committed to William Woods.

Tanner Cantrell (Houston, 1B, 2015)
Cantrell is a strong 6-foot-3, 225-pound left-hand hitting corner infielder. He posted a home-to-first time of 5.01. Tanner throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and short arm action. His throws were mostly accurate and had some carry. His position velo was 77 MPH. At the plate, Cantrell has an athletic setup with a long stride. He has fast bat speed with a strong lower half. Tanner has good balance and definite pull power. Cantrell had an exit velo of 86 MPH.

Steven Deckard (Francis Howell North, 3B, 2015)
Deckard is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-hand hitting third-baseman. He posted a home-to-first time of 5.04. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot. His throws were very accurate with good carry. Steven has aggressive actions and shows a quick release. His position velo was 82 MPH. At the plate, Deckard has a slightly open setup with a back load and a long stride. He has good balance through his swing and uses his lower half well. His swing produces gap-to-gap line drives and shows some pull power. Steven had an exit velo of 87 MPH.

Easton Fortuna (Park Hill South, SS, 2015)
Fortuna is a 5-foot-8, 150-pound right-hand hitting shortstop. He ran home-to-first time of 4.09. He throws from an over-the-top arm slot. His throws were very accurate with a quick release. Fortuna is aggressive on his approach to the ball and plays through. His position velo was 77 MPH. At the plate, Easton has a balanced setup with a smooth load. He has good balance through his swing and a level bat path. His swing produces line drives to the middle of the field. Fortuna had an exit velo of 80 MPH. Easton showed off his speed during the game, swiping two bags.

Michael Gray (Stoutland, SS, 2015)
Gray is a wiry, athletic 5-foot-11, 150-pound right-hand hitting shortstop. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.51. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Michael’s throws were mostly accurate and had some carry. He has a clean exchange and quick fluid feet. His position velo was 72 MPH. At the plate, Gray has an athletic setup with a back load. He gets good extension with a level bat path. Michael’s swing produces line drives. He had an exit velo of 71 MPH.

Ryan Laddish (Lee’s Summit, 1B, 2015)
Laddish is a strong 6-foot-2, 206-pound left-hand hitting first baseman. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.54. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and has short arm action. Ryan’s throws were mostly accurate and had some carry. His position velo was 75 MPH. At the plate, Laddish has an athletic setup with a back load and long stride. He has balance through his swing. Ryan’s swing produces line drives. He had an exit velo of 78 MPH.

Jared Littlefield (Hazelwood West, SS, 2015)
Littlefield is an is an athletic 6-foot-1, 180-pound shortstop. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.21. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with good accuracy.  His position velo was 77 MPH at shortstop. At the plate, Littlefield has an athletic setup with a smooth load. He a gap-to-gap approach and an exit velo of 84 MPH.

Douglas Martin (Liberty North, 2B, 2015)
Martin is an athletic 5-foot-10, 155-pound right-hand hitting middle infielder. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.37. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Douglas’s throws were mostly accurate and had some carry. The ball comes out of his hand very clean and has good footwork. His infield velocity was 75 MPH. At the plate, Martin has an athletic setup with a smooth load. Douglas produces line drives. He had an exit velo of 78 MPH.

Levi McLaughlin (Staley, 2B, 2015)
McLaughlin is an athletic 6-foot-1, 175-pound left-hand hitting middle infielder. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.34. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action. Levi’s throws were mostly accurate and had good carry. The ball comes out of Levi’s hand very clean. He had an infield velocity of 75 MPH. At the plate, McLaughlin has an athletic setup with a back load and a long stride. He displayed fast bat speed. Levi produces line drives and uses the middle of the field. He had an exit velo of 83 MPH.

Conrad McMahon (Staley, 3B, 2015)
McMahon is an athletic 5-foot-9, 175-pound right-hand hitting outfielder/third baseman. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.11. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with short arm action. Conrad’s throws were very accurate and had great life. The ball comes out of his hand very clean and he has quick feet. His outfield velocity was 86 MPH and infield velocity was 81 MPH. At the plate, McMahon has a balanced setup with a long stride. Conrad uses his lower half well and keeps a level bat path through his swing. He produces gap-to-gap line drives. He had an exit velo of 85 MPH. He hit a double to right field during the game.

Marcus Motley (Blue Valley North (KS), OF, 2015)
Motley is a projectable 6-foot-1, 180-pound right-hand hitting outfielder/first baseman. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.22. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot with long arm action. Marcus’s throws were mostly accurate and had good carry. He has great actions to the ball and is very aggressive. Motley had an infield velocity of 76 MPH and outfield velocity of 77 MPH. At the plate, Marcus has an athletic setup with a long stride. He uses his lower half well and gets good extension through the ball. Motley produces gap-to-gap line drives. He had an exit velo of 81 MPH.

Isaac Norsic (Hillcres, 1B, 2015)
Norsic is a strong 6-foot-1, 225-pound right-hand hitting first baseman. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.66. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Isaac’s throws were accurate and had good carry. He is aggressive and plays through the ball. His position velo was 78 MPH. At the plate, Norsic has an athletic setup with a smooth load and long stride. He has fast bat speed and uses his lower half well. Isaac’s level swing produces gap-to-gap line drives with pull power. He had an exit velo of 93 MPH.

Cole Percell (Lee’s Summit North, 2B, 2015)
Percell is a strong 5-foot-9, 196-pound right-hand hitting middle-infielder. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.44. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot and has a very quick release. Cole’s throws were mostly accurate and had some carry. He has fluid footwork and a quick clean exchange. His position velo was 70 MPH. At the plate, Percell has an open setup with a smooth load and a long stride. His swing is very repeatable and he stays inside the ball. Cole has some pop and produces gap-to-gap line drives with his swing. He had an exit velo of 82 MPH. He had a great approach during the game and hit the ball hard a few times.

Kaleb Reid (Smithville, SS, 2015)
Reid is an athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound right-hand hitting outfielder/middle infielder. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.13. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with long arm action. Kaleb’s throws were mostly accurate and had good carry. He has a clean exchange and fluid feet. His outfield velo was 75 MPH and infield velo was 74 MPH. At the plate, Reid has an athletic setup with a long stride. He uses his lower half well and has a simple/repeatable swing. Kaleb’s swing produces gap-to-gap line drives and he uses the middle. He had an exit velo of 84 MPH.

Jordan Robben (Staley, 3B, 2015)
Robben is a strong, athletic 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-hand hitting third baseman. Jordan throws from a high ¾ arm slot with loose arm action. He showed quick fluid feet and a clean exchange. His position velo was 84 MPH. At the plate, Robben has a balanced set-up with a back load. He has quick bat speed with power potential. His swing produces gap-to-gap line drives with pull side power. His exit velo was 88 MPH. During the game, he picked up a double. Robben has committed to William Jewell.

Zachary Smith (Fort Zumwalt West, 1B, 2015)
Smith is a strong 5-foot-11, 193-pound left-hand hitting first baseman/outfielder. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.25. He throws from an over-the-top arm slot with loose arm action. Zachary’s throws were very accurate and had good carry. He has great actions in the outfield and at first base. Smith had an infield velocity of 76 MPH and an outfield velocity of 78 MPH. At the plate, Zachary has an athletic setup with a back load. He displayed fast bat speed and has some swagger in his approach. Smith produces line drives and has pull power. He had an exit velo of 79 MPH.

Bryan Stewart (Lebanon, 3B, 2015)
Stewart is a strong 6-foot-1, 176-pound right-hand hitting third baseman. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.93. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot with short arm action. His throws were mostly accurate and had some carry. His position velo was 78 MPH. At the plate, Bryan has a balanced setup with a back load. He produces gap-to-gap line drives. Bryan had an exit velo of 77 MPH.

Kyle Vance (Wentzville Holt, SS, 2015)
Vance is a wiry, athletic 6-foot-0, 168-pound right-hand hitting shortstop. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.10. He throws from an over-the-top arm slot. Kyle throws were very accurate and had good carry. His has very good footwork and a quick release. His position velo was 79 MPH. At the plate, Vance has an athletic setup with a smooth load. He has fast bat speed with a level bat path. Kyle produces gap-to-gap line drives. He had an exit velo of 87 MPH.

Chas Verduzco (St. Joseph Benton, 2B, 2015)
Verduzco is an athletic 5-foot-7, 155-pound right-hand hitting middle infielder. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.15. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot with short arm action. Chas’s throws were mostly accurate and had some life. He has great actions and smooth footwork. His position velo was 76 MPH. At the plate, Verduzco has an athletic setup and a back load. He gets good extension on his swing and stays balanced. Chas’s swing produces.

Bradey Welsh
(Marshfield, SS, 2015)
8/17/14 – Welsh is a strong, athletic 6-foot-1, 155-pound right-hand hitting shortstop. He posted a home-to-first time of 4.50. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot and short arm action. Bradey’s throws had good carry. He has fluid footwork and a quick clean exchange. His position velo was 85 MPH. At the plate, Welsh had a slightly open setup with a smooth load. He has fast bat speed and cuts off a bit in his finish. Bradey has some pop and produces gap-to-gap line drives with backspin. He had an exit velo of 87 MPH.
