On Sunday, August 14, Prep Baseball Report-Iowa/Nebraska held the Border Battle in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Below is a look at the performances from Kansas players that participated.

Andrew Duhamell, C, Warrensburg, 2019
5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher ran a 7.82 60 yard sprint. At the plate, open crouched stance, uphill swing path, line drive/ground ball contact. Posted an exit velocity of 81 mph off a tee. Advanced pop times for his age in the 1.97-2.03 range. Quick transfer and release, stays online to 2nd. Good stocky frame, durable, will continue to develop as a receiver.

Stone Krogman, OF/RHP, Liberty, 2017
6-foot-3, 195-pound right-handed hitting two-way player ran a 7.08 60 yard sprint. Strong physical build with a strong base. At the plate has a wide base, toe tap trigger to a quick compact line drive swing plane. Tendency to spin off to the pull side. Posted an exit velocity of 85 mph off a tee. In the outfield, showed the ability to read the ball and has a long ¾ release that topped out at 89 mph. On the mound, sat in the 82-85 mph range with his fastball. Mechanically, repeats delivery, tendency to drift towards home before hands break. Aggressive front side stays closed. 71-73 mph breaking ball has tight spin and was up in the strike zone.

Benjamin McClain, OF, Lee Summit West, 2017
5-foot-10, 185-pound outfielder who committed to Arkansas a little over a week after the Border Battle. 6.82 runner in the 60. Strong compact physical build. At the plate, square stance, simple stride triggers uphill swing plane. All fields approach, power to pull side. Posted an exit velocity of 82 mph off a tee. In the outfield, works through the baseball with high energy, long crow hop release , threw accurately to home topping out at 82 mph.

Jordan McClellan, OF, Liberty, 2018
The #94 ranked outfielder in the state of Missouri for the 2018 class. 6-foot, 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder ran a 7.02 60 yard sprint. At the plate, slightly open stance, long barrel path, slightly uphill swing. Line drive approach. Posted an exit velocity of 83 mph off a tee. In the outfield, plays reads with intention in the outfield, high ¾ arm action. Topped out at 89 mph from the outfield. On the mound, quick tempo, hands have a tendency to break late as weight drifts towards home, stays online to catcher. Sat 77-80 mph with his fastball, 66-68 mph breaking ball has slider spin.

Haiden Randall, 3B/OF, Camdenton, 2017
6-foot-2, 225-pound switch-hitter ran a 7.88 60 yard sprint. Strong physical build, posted an exit velocity of 92 mph off a tee. At the plate, square stance, pull side approach, tendency to spin off the ball. Uphill swing plane. Hard line drive contact. In the outfield, threw accurately to home at 83 mph.  Plays the ball out front and has a clean transfer to a high ¾ arm action. In the infield, has active feet and works up through the ball towards first base. Threw across with control at 78 mph.

Bobby Rivera, SS, Blue Springs South, 2018
The #70 ranked player in the state of Missouri ran a 6.65 60 yard sprint. At the plate, open stance, short leg kick squares at contact. Line drive swing plane. Ground ball and line drive contact during BP. Posted an exit velocity of 82 mph off a tee. In the field, high energy, quick feet, hands get deep in the body, quick release,  sporadic throws across from low ¾ arm slot at 75 mph.

Carlos Santagelo, RHP/3B, Chaminade College Prep, 2019
6-foot, 155-pound two-way player ran a 7.2 60 yard sprint. Athletic build, wide shoulders. At the plate, square stance, high hands, leg kick triggers long swing plane. Posted an exit velocity of 81 mph off a tee. In the field, has active footwork, funnels the ball through his body working through the ball. Feet have a tendency to stop at fielding position. Threw across at 76 mph. On the mound, topped out at 79 mph with his fastball.  Repeats mechanics, short on the back side and long out front. 65-68 mph breaking ball has slider tilt. 70-72 mph changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed and running action to his arm side.

Jacob Schneider, C, St. John Vianney, 2017
6-foot-1, 175-pound catcher ran a 7.33 60 yard sprint. At the plate, tall open stance, leg kick triggers uphill swing path. Long barrel path through the zone. Posted an exit velocity of 82 mph. Threw to 2nd in the 1.88-2.02 range. Quick catch and release, throws through the right-handed batter’s box. In game action, presents well, wide setup, soft hands, + blocker.

Mark Walker, 2B, Blue Springs South, 2017
5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitting infielder ran a 7.08 60. Compact athletic build. At the plate, pull side approach, tendency to spin off the ball. Short slightly downhill swing plane. Posted an exit velocity of 91 mph off a tee. In the infield, active footwork, tendency to funnel through his body. Threw accurately across the infield at 77 mph.

Josh Zellak, C, Liberty, 2018
5-foot-11, 190-pound catcher ran a 7.57 60 yard sprint. Compact stocky build. Slightly open stance at the plate, strides to a slight arm bar with a long downhill swing plane. Line drive and ground ball contact, all fields approach. Posted an exit velocity of 80 mph off a tee. Behind the plate, threw in the 2.10-2.22 range. Wide set up, hands and body have a tendency to get beat to the spot. Fundamentally sound blocking technique.
