Daily Game Roundup: April 3 Games



No. 1 Francis Howell 1  Ft. Zumwalt West 2
In the biggest upset of the day, Ryan Franklin scattered four hits and allowed one earned run to shut down the Howell offense. An RBI double by Austin Verschoore in the third and RBI single by Shane Porter in the sixth were enough to back up Franklin.

No. 5 Westminster 3  Parkway Central 4
Parkway Central scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to knock off Westminster. Brantley Lohkamp drove in two and Johnny Naughton and Zach Lazenby each drove in one to provide the offense. Matt Hresko and Connor Kraus combined to give up six hits and three earned runs. Kyle Kinner went two-for-three with a two run homerun for Westminster.

No. 7 Notre Dame 4  Dexter 2
Notre Dame improved their record to 8-0 with a 4-2 win over Dexter. Justin Landewee had another solid outing on the mound, striking out 11 batters and scattering three hits while allowing only one earned run. Luke Haines had a perfect 2-for-2 day at the plate with two RBIs to lead the Notre Dame offense. Chase Simmons and Cody DeBrock also had RBIs for Notre Dame.

No. 9 Raymore-Peculiar 2   No. 22 Rock Bridge 3 at Sedalia/UCM tourney
Rock Bridge continues to impress, with a big win upsetting No. 9 Raymore-Peculiar.

Raymore-Peculiar jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Austin Cochran started the frame off with a walk and advanced to second on a Mason Newell single. After advancing to third by tagging up on a Evan Rathburn fly out to centerfield, Cochran would come around to score on a sacrifice fly by Cort Lesmeister. An Alex Hunt single brought home Newell.

Rock Bridge got a run back in the top of the fourth. Logan Twehouse hit a one out double to centerfield and the next batter Mike Nemec delivered an RBI single, making the score 2-1. 

Twehouse delivered again in the sixth inning, with a solo home run to left, knotting the score at 2-2. 

The game would remain tied until the top of the eighth inning. Joe Barbee reached on an error and stole second base. Connor Brumfeld came through with a two out RBI single to score Barbee and give Rock Bridge the win. 

Chandler Wyatt picked up the win in relief, throwing four scoreless innings and surrendering three hits.

No. 10 Ladue 26     Normandy 0
Turner Miller led the Ladue attack with a 3-for-3 afternoon and six RBIs. Justin Cole and Levi Greenburg each contributed with two hits and three RBIs apiece. Lex Kaplan, CJ Goenecker, Ryan Glazer, and Dylan Barstow each had two RBIs in the blowout win.

No. 11 Blue Springs South 5 Oak Grove 3 at Sedalia/UCM tourney
The Blue Springs South Jaguars improved their record to 4-0. Caleb Humphries picked up the win and Austin Simms had two hits and an RBI.

No. 14 Oran 1  Scott City 2
Scott City upset No. 14 Oran in a pitchers duel. Ryan Brock went the distance for Scott City allowing six hits and striking out six. Levi Petit collected both RBIs for Scott City, an RBI double in the second inning and the driving in the go ahead run on a single in the sixth.

No. 15 Clever 2  Forsyth 8
Clever took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning, but committed six errors in the frame leading to seven Forsyth runs. Jay Kauffman picked up the win for Forsyth, tossing a compete game.

No. 17 Holden 4 Boonville 1 at Sedalia/UCM tourney
Dylan Riley picked up his second win of the season by holding Boonville hitless while striking out seven in four innings. Justin Jaeger came in for the save for Holden, pushing their record to a perfect 5-0.  Matt Borgen was 3-for-4 for Holden to lead them offensively, with Riley and James Brownsberger each collecting two hits.

No. 21 Clayton 7  Jennings 1
After a slow start, Clayton erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Jennings. Starting pitcher Greg Ginos’ two RBI single and Sean Anderson’s three RBI single were the big hits of the inning. Justin Gellman picked up the win in relief.

No. 25 Poplar Bluff 5  Chaffee 7
Chaffee knocked off Poplar Bluff, handing the Mules their first loss of the season. Cody Payne got the win in relief by retiring the last five batters he faced.  Chaffee played small ball and put the pressure on Poplar Bluff, who made four errors in the game, with four bunts to advance and score runners and well as seven singles to drive in a few. Chaffee scored five unearned runs in the contest.

at Sedalia/UCM tourney
Smith-Cotton score two runs in the fourth and four in the sixth, led by Dalton Zaremba who had a three RBI hit in the sixth, to hold on for the win.

Timberland 1  Francis Howell Central 0
DJ Hickey threw a two hit shutout for Timberland. Central’s Troy Newell gave up one unearned run in the loss. 

Helias 11  Hickman 8
A six run sixth inning erased a three run deficit into a three run win for the Helias Crusaders.

Joplin 9  Nixa 4
Joplin pound out 12 hits on the afternoon, lead by Brett Graham, Tristian Ash, Gavin Jones, Kaelin Smith and Nate Brummer each having multiple hits. Ash went a perfect 3-for-3, while Smith knocked in four runs and Graham three runs to lead the offense.

Carthage 12  Monett 0
Drew Bridges struck out 15 batters and collected two hits. Bridges, Jonny Mills and Jordan Musser each had two hits apiece.

Seneca 8  Carl Junction 3
Colton Webber threw five innings of no hit ball, striking out six to shut down the Carl Junction bats. Dalan Merriman went 4-for-4 with two runs scores and an RBI to set the tone for Seneca. Webber, Payton Rawlins, Marty Mailes, Cade Cornett, and Brett Roark each had an RBI in the win.

John Burroughs 4  Principia 2
Burroughs scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to erase a 2-0 deficit and come away with the win. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Tom Bolstad, and a RBI single and steal of home by Jake Wood in the fifth secured the win. Dwight Sutter picked up the win allowing two runs over five innings, while allowing only two hits. Peter Munger threw the final inning to get the save.
