Future Games Follow Up With LSU Commit Brady Kehlenbrink

From July 27th to July 30th, the Prep Baseball Report staff hosted the PBR Future Games at the state-of-the-art LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Georgia.

This one-of-a-kind event featured the best uncommitted Class of 2024 prospects and select 2025 prospects from our 40-plus state coverage area and Canada. In years past, more than 330 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance.

Team Missouri had one of the event's top showings, posting a 2-1 record throughout the week while playing against consistent high-end uncommitted talent across the country. The accolades for Team Missouri have continued rolling in after the event, with a member of the squad capturing Future Games MVP honors and several players already committing, too.

Today our staff spoke with LHP Brady Kehlenbrink (Parkway South, 2024), who became the latest member of Team Missouri to come off the board when he committed to Louisiana State a few weeks ago. Kehlenbrink was one of the top arms from the 'Show Me' state in attendance, working with ease and rhythm across his two-inning stint. There, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound southpaw ran his heater up to 88 mph, flashing projectable spin on his breaking ball and a potential swing-and-miss changeup to pair.

We spoke with Kehlenbrink about his experience at the Future Games, what it was like to compete against top-end talent across the country, and his commitment to an SEC powerhouse in this article. You'll find all of that below.

OUR Q&A

PBR: What did you think about the Future Games coming into the event? Had you heard anything about the event prior to attending?

Kehlenbrink: I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know how the other states would compare to us. I had heard that there would be a 100+ collage scouts walking all over the complex and that got me excited.

P: Describe your experience at LakePoint for the Future Games. What was it like to compete against top-end talent from across the country in an atmosphere that featured so many college coaches?

K: It was hands down one of the best experiences I have ever had while playing baseball. I loved knowing that when I would step out on that field, there would be 20+ scouts watching me and the guys do what we do best. As far as the competition goes, I wanted to pitch against the best hitters they could give me. I wanted the challenge. I wanted to show everyone what I can do.

P: What was it like to represent the state of Missouri at this event?

K: It was an honor going out and playing for my state.

P: What was the outreach of schools like for you after you attended the Future Games?

K: It was overwhelming on how many schools wanted to talk to me. I was having to call 3 to 4 coaches a week. At the same time I enjoyed talking to all of the coaches and building a relationship with them.

P: Do you have a memorable moment from the Future Games? Is there a certain game, play, performance milestone, etc. that you specifically remember?

K: My most comforting memory was getting to pitch to my good friend C Xander Schmitt (Lafayette, 2024; Kansas commit). I have been throwing to him ever since little league, playing with the Prospects.

P: Which players on Team Missouri, in particular, stood out to you throughout the event?

K: C Xander Schmitt (Lafayette, 2024; Kansas) and INF Grant Hollister (Blue Springs South, 2024; Michigan commit).

P: Congratulations on your commitment! What led you to committing to your eventual school and is there anything about the coaching staff, program, etc in particular.

K: Thank you! One reason I chose LSU is because in such short time, I made a great connection with the coaches and players. Another reason is, I like how the fans care so much about the baseball team. I also like how there is always a big audience during the games. I feel like I always play better when there is a big audience. The main reason I chose LSU is because I know that I can improve and get better there. Not only as a baseball player, but as a man.
