Metro East Open: Statistical Analysis

The Metro East Open took place on Tuesday, June 25 at GCS Stadium in Sauget, Illinois. The event featured players from the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 classes.

 The event Quick Hits have already been released, which cover our initial impressions on some of the top performers. Below, the statistical analysis will break down the top numbers from each statistical category recorded at the event. 

Max Fastball

RHP Carter Sabol took home the events best fastball, sitting 83-85 and topping out at 87. RHP Evan Herpstreith, another Nokomis product, was not far behind, topping out at 85 MPH. 

60-Yard-Dash

2B/OF Connor Earlywine easily took the crown as the events fastest runner. RHP/OF Brock Bellaver had the second fastest 60-yard-dash of the day.

Exit-Velocity

SS/2B Alex Zimmerman and RHP/3B Zachary Kempfer showed off some of the best bat speed at the event and both registered an event-high 89 MPH exit-velocity off the tee. 


Infield Velocity

C/SS Ayalew Sisay and SS/OF Jonah James were the lone arms to register at least 80 MPH across the diamond on throws from shortstop, with Sisay earning the top spot. 


Outfield Velocity

C/SS Ayalew Sisay also took throws from the outside and registered an event best 84 MPH. OF Jacob Blomenkamp was right behind him, registering 81 MPH on the gun.


Catcher Velocity

C/SS Sisay continued to show off his arm strength on the day and also had the best catcher velocity with 75 MPH. 


Pop-Times

C Carson Dubach and C Luke Willis had the best pops of the day. Dubach barely edged out Willis for the best time, throwing an event best 2.10 to second base.
