The Metro East Open kicked off with a bang at Blazier Field in O’Fallon, Illinois. The event was open to all classes and consisted of mostly prospects from the St. Louis Metro East area.
The stats were highlighted by the first event of the day, the 60 yard dash. 10 of the over 70 plus prospects ran the 60 under 7.0. Patrick Gaul (Belleville East 2016) and Devin Thomas (Sacred Heart-Griffin 2016) led the way by running a 6.71 and 6.72 respectively. Andrew Winning (Highland 2016) was not far behind with a 6.79.
Winning also came in with the top outfield velocity at the event. He registered 85 mph, showing the combination of speed and arm strength that could play at the next level.
