Mid-Eastern Missouri Open ID: Catchers and Outfielders Analysis

Prep Baseball Report held the Mid-Eastern Missouri Open ID on July 26 in Washington, Missouri.  Twenty-five players from around the eastern part of Missouri participated.  Players ranged from the 2017 to 2020 classes.

Players profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velos and videos.  College recruiters can see more information through their ScoutPlus subscription. 

We will break down each position, starting with catchers and outfielders today. Although, catchers and outfielders may have participated in other positions, this is just a look at the catching and outfield performances.  Click on the players name to see their profile.

Catchers

Michael Bennett, C, Pacific, 2017

Bennett is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 7.77 60 and a 4.47 home-to-first.  He has an exit velo of 74 mph. At the plate, balances set up, short stride, hands create path, level path through zone, middle of the field contact during batting practice.  Behind the plate, pop times 2.15 to 2.44-seconds, 76 mph positional velo, over the top release, fluid transfer with footwork, mostly accurate throws. 

Drew Hansel, C, Parkway South, 2020
Hansel is a 5-foot-9 145-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 8.22 60 and 4.89 home-to-first.  His exit velo was 68 mph. At the plate, wide stance, reverse short stride, early trigger stride, minimal hand load, loose hands working inside the ball, gap-to-gap approach.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.26 and 2.38-seconds, 67 mph positional velo, over the top release, quick catch and throw with fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Outfielders

Ethan Brown, OF, Waynesville, 2018
Brown is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.97 60 and 5.03 home-to-first.  He has an 83 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced stance, fluid load, short in line stride, toe tap, flashed pull power, repeats swing.  In the outfield, 82 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, small crow hop, aggressive to the ball, quick catch and throw, arm works, athletic frame, mostly accurate throws with carry.

Joe Faron, OF, Francis Howell, 2018
Faron is a 6-foot 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a  7.40 60 and a 4.97 home-to-first.  He has an 81 mph exit velo. Strong and athletic build.  At the plate, starts slightly open, small and controlled leg kick, accelerated hands, level through the zone, gap-to-gap approach.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, plays behind the ball, quick transfer and throw, mostly accurate, 80 mph positional velo

Zachary Finley, OF, Owensville, 2017
Finley is a 6-foot-2 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 7.77 60 and a 5.15 home-to-first. He has an 84 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load into back side, short in line stride, middle to pull line drives, loose hands, creates bat whip.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velo, loose arm action, high three quarters release, plays behind the ball, fluid footwork with momentum through the catch, short crow hop, long legs with lean frame, projectable. 

Adam Gauzy, OF, Washington, 2017
Guazy is a 5-foot-11 155-pound switch-hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 6.69 60 and a 4.45 home-to-first.  He has an exit velo of 77 mph. From the right side, simple and repeatable with not wasted movement, short stride, level path, gap-to-gap approach.  From the left side, hands work inside ball, middle of the field contact, slightly closed off on stride.  In the outfield, over the top release, 84 mph posistional velo, mostly accurate throws with carry, quick twitch movements, aggressive to the ball, working behind the ball, momentum through the catch. 


Conrand Hansel, OF, Parkway South, 2018
Hensel is a 5-foot-9 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.16 60 and a 4.88 home-to-first.  He has a 63 mph exit velo. At the plate, swing produced middle-to-pull side of the field contact, balanced set up, minimal hand load, short path to the ball, stays on ball after contact.  In the outfield, 73 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, momentum towards the tagerget, works behind the ball, fluid exchange, mostly accurate throws. 

Nick Orr, OF, Marquette, 2019
Orr is a 5-foot-11 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.52 60 and a 4.71 home-to-first.  He has an exit velo of 83 mph. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth rhythm, short in line stride, flashed pull side power, mostly pull side contact during batting practice.  In the outfield, 71 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, moves to ball with a purpose, fluid footwork working with glove to hand exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Brendan Noack, OF, St. Charles West, 2018
Noack is a 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.52 60 and a 4.95 home-to-first.  He has a 74 mph exit velo. At the plate, swing produced consistent lines drives to the pull side, balanced stance, short stride, level bat path through the zone. In the outfield, high three quarters release, aggressive to the ball, clean transfer and throw, mostly accurate throws, 72 mph positional velo.
