Game two versus Illinois
In Missouri’s second game of the Midwest Future Games, the squad from the Show Me State showed Team Illinois what Missouri was all about, handing Illinois their first ever loss of the Midwest Future Games in a dominating 8-2 contest.
Missouri broke out the bats in the top of the first with five runs, aided by a few Illinois errors and timely hitting.
+ Ryan Mantle started on the mound for Missouri, showing his arm strength by sitting 89-90. He mixed in a good changeup at 78-81 that featured sink and garnered quite a few swings and misses.
+ RHP Luke Matheny (Westminster Christian Academy, MO) took over in the third inning and gave up a hit. He sat 82-84.
+ Marquise Doherty showcased his speed again on a fly ball over the center fielder's head, but a good relay had him cut down on a close play at third base.
+ RHP Logan Wiley (Kickapoo HS, MO) sat 84-86 and showed a good curveball at 73 with sharp break
