Missouri Underclass Games: Right-Handed Pitchers

Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the Underclass Prospect Games on June 14 at the University of Missouri.  Nearly 100 players participated in the 2018 and 2019 class. 

Player profiles have been updated with video, times, velos and profile pictures.  Today we will take a look at the right-handed pitchers performances from the event.  Although some right-handed pitchers may have played other positions, this is just a break down of the pitching performances from the day. 

Pitchers started with a 2-1 count and threw 20 pitches based on the USA Baseball Pitch-Smart guidelines.

Right-Handed Pitchers

Tyler Abney, RHP, Smith-Cotton, 2018
Abney is a 6-foot-2 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Abney comes from an over the top arm slot, loose arm action, aggressive down the mound, throws with some effort, controls both side of the plate with fastball, at 81-83 mph, late life to fastball with running action, curveball at 70-74 mph, 11-to-5 action, some with sharp break, shows signs of being good pitch as he continues to develop, change up at 71-74, arm side sink, throws all pitches for strikes, pitched to contact in games, struck out one, no walks, high percentage of strikes. 

Alex Adams, RHP, Lafayette, 2018
Adams is a 6-foot-1 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Adams has a high three-quarters release, smooth rhythm, repeats, throws with regular effort, good body control, arm drops to lower slot on occasions, fastball at 76-82 mph, some with late run, curveball at 68-69 mph, 11-to-5 shape, change up at 75-77 mph, slight sink, did not allow a hit in outing, worked both sides of the plate, strike thrower, three strikeouts and a walk.

Jack Adams, RHP, Kirkwood, 2018
Adams is a 6-foot-2 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Adams threw mostly fastball and curveball in game action, three strikeouts, one walk, no hits, fastball had late run, 81-83 mph, 11-to-5 curveball, mostly 63-67 mph, over the top release, throws with regular effort, lands square to plate, quick tempo between pitches, clean arm action. 

Braxton Bragg, RHP, Liberty, 2019
Bragg is a 6-foot-1 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  Bragg has a high three quarters arm slot, loose, strong bodied, hands raise with leg lift, throws with regular effort, fast ball at 79-82 mph, late 2-seam action, sharp 11-to-5 breaking ball, slurve-type movement, fastball arm speed, compliments fastball, change up at 70-75 mph, some arm side run, struck out three, walked two and allowed two hits in outing, strike thrower, attacked the zone with mostly fastball and curveball.

Jack Brimacombe, RHP, Blue Valley North (KS), 2018
Brimacombe is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Brimacombe has a high three quarters release point, loose arm action, in line stride, repeatable mechanics, throws with regular effort, fastball at 76-78 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 64-67 mph, controllable change up at 73 mph, some running action, struck out four, walked three and allowed two hits in game action, gained strength as outing went along, projectable frame. 

David Eklund, RHP, Lafayette, 2019
Eklund is a 5-foot-8 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  Eklund has an over the top release, throws with easy effort, stays in line down the mound, controlled delivery, fastball at 64-66 mph, 11-to-5 shape breaking ball, 59-60 mph, allowed no hits during outing, three walks and a strike out.

William Ferrell, RHP, Notre Dame, 2018
Ferrell is a 6-foot-6 215-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Ferrell has prototypical pither’s frame, lean and projectable, comes from an over the top slot, repeatable and smooth delivery, body stays under control, throws with easy effort, fastball ranged from mostly 78-81 mph, downhill plane, breaking ball has 11-to-5 action, 67-70 mph, some showing sharp movement, worked the entire zone with high percentage of strikes. 

Grant Geren, RHP, Blue Springs South, 2019
Geren is a 5-foot-9 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  Geren has an over the top release, hands work with leg lift and separate with stride, in-line stride down the mound, fastball at 71-73 mph, breaking ball with 12-to-6 action, 59 mph.

Will Gilmer, RHP, Sikeston, 2018
Gilmer is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Gilmer’s fastball ranged from 78-82 mph, down the zone, over the top release, loose arm action, over the head wind-up, aggressive down the mound, throws with some effort, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, sharp and late break, 65-68 mph, throws for a strike, located fastball and landed curveball in game action.

Jake Grauberger, RHP, Lee’s Summit West, 2019
Grauberger is a 5-foot-9 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  Grauberger has an over the top release, smooth rhythm, simple and repeatable delivery, body is controlled, fastball at 77-81 mph, some with arm side run, breaking ball is a 12-to-6 curveball at 68 mph, change up at 62 mph, showed slight arm side run, challenged hitters with mostly fastballs in game action, worked ball on both sides of plate. 

Reid Hendrickson, RHP, Edwardsville (IL), 2018
Hendrickson is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2018 class.  He has an over the top release, smooth acceleration down the mound, loose arm action, in line stride, throws with regular effort, fastball ranged from 80-83 mph, change up at 74-75 mph, slight run, threw mostly fastballs in game action, high percentage or strikes, mixed in change up, kept hitters off balance, worked to contact, no hit allowed, one walk.

Ryan Houseman, RHP, Hickman, 2018
Houseman is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missour’s 2018 class.  Houseman has a high three quarters arm slot, controlled leg lift, accelerates down the mound, loose arm action, arm works, smooth and athletic delivery, fastball has plus-running action at 81-84 mph, curveball has 11-to-5 action, mostly 65-68 mph, kept hitting guessing with fastball/curveball mix during game action, projectable frame with arm action would suggest increase as he matures.

Evan Howse, RHP, Westminster, 2019
Howse is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He has a high three-quarters arm slot, strong and projectable frame, comes set with a wide base, in-line stride, throws with regular effort, works quick between pitches, clean arm action, fastball ranged from 79-81 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, 73 mph change-up.

Evan Hubert, RHP, CBC, 2018
Hubert is a 5-foot-9 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Hubert has an over the top release, strong and athletic delivery, aggressive to the plate, throws with regular effort, showed a sharp breaking ball at 64-65 mph, 12-to-6 action, plus pitch, challenged hitters with mostly fastballs in game action. 

Ben Kobel, RHP, Lee’s Summit, 2019
Kobel is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  Kobel has a high three-quarters release, hands separate with stride, in-line stride, simple and repeatable delivery, controlled body, fastball at 71-75 mph, curveball has 11-to-5 action, controllable change up at 62-64 mph, arm side sink, good pitch, throws for strike, worked mostly fastball and change up in game action, did not allow a hit, two strikeouts, two walks in outing.

Michael Long, RHP, MICDS, 2019
Long is a 5-foot-11 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He has a over the top release, coils and tucks at balance point, creates deception, quick tempo in delivery, lands square to the plate, fastball at 77-80, 12-to-6 action on curveball, 65-68 mph, change up at 66 mph, some arm side run.

Derek Mammen, RHP, Blue Springs South, 2018
Mammen is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Mammen has a high three quarters release, throws with regular effort, finishes in athletic postion, fastball at 73-75 mph, curveball has 12-to-6 shape with gradual action, fastball arm speed, throws for a strike at 60-62 mph, high number of strikes in game action, mixing fastball and curveball.

Luke Mann, RHP, Vianney, 2018
Mann is a 6-foot-2 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Mann has a high-three quarters arm slot, simple and repeatable delivery, accelerates down the mound, repeats delivery, worked fast ball at 85-87 mph, touching 88 mph, cutting action, will also work a 2-seam fastball, works inside to RHH, showed sharp late breaking 11-to-5 curveball, and sharp 75 mph slider, strike thrower, attacks hitters on inner half, induced weak contact in game action. 

Jordan McClellan, RHP, Liberty, 2018
McClellan is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  McClellan has a high three-quarters release, quick and loose arm action, in line down the mound, throws with regular effort, fastball at 75-76 mph, some with cutting action, curveball at 64-65 mph, 12-to-6 shape.

Grant Paten, RHP, Hickman, 2018
Paten is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Paten is a long legged and lean, high three quarters arm slot, repeatable delivery, hands work over the head in wind up, throws slightly across body, smooth tempo on delivery, fastball mostly at 75-79 mph, breaking ball has slider action, 59-62 mph, change up at 68 mph, near fastball arm speed. 

James Perry, RHP, Liberty North, 2018
Perry is a 6-foot-4 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He has high three quarters release, quick arm, athletic delivery, downhill plane, inline stride, aggressive, throws with some effort, fastball at 76-81 mph, 12-to-6 shaped breaking ball, 66-69 mph, change up at 66 mph, showed knuckleball at 69 mph. 

Noah Pingel, RHP, Francis Howell North, 2018
Pingel is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He has a high three-quarters release, body under control, hands stay high to balance point, in line stride, throws with some effort, works quick between pitcher with consistent tempo in delivery, fastball at 77-83 mph, 12-to-6 curveball at 67-71mph.

Jacob Poletis, RHP, Rockhurst. 2019
Poletis is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  Poletis has a high three quarters release, tuck at balance point, smooth rhythm, throws with regular effort, fastball at 78-81 mph, some with late run, 10-to-4 shaped curveball, 67-70 mph, change has arm side sink at 75-78 mph, clean arm action, high number of strikes during his outing.

Garrett Presko, RHP, Pembroke Hill, 2018
Presko is a 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He has a controlled leg lift, smooth tempo accelerating down the mound, over the top release, in line stride, hands raise with leg lift, fastball sitting 81-83, touching 84 mph, slider is sharp and late, 74-75 mph, creates swing and miss, three walks and three strikeouts during outing.

Brody Roach, RHP, Lutheran St. Charles, 2018
Roach is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Roach has a lean frame and loose arm action, controlled body, repeats delivery, throws with regular effort, fastball at 79-83 mph, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, down in the zone, 65-67 mph, change up at late movement, arm side release, 71-74 mph, swing and miss pitch.

Alexander Roberts, RHP, Nixa, 2018
Roberts is a 5-foot-7 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Roberts has an over the top release, aggressive down the mound, arm works, stays in line down the mound, fastball at 74-77 mph, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, throws for a strike, sharp movement, 64-67 mph. 

Nick Schmidt, RHP, Holt, 2018
Schmidt is a 6-foot-3 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Schmidt high three-quarters arm slot, throws with some effort, arm works, repeats delivery, in line stride, creates direction and momentum towards the plate, fastball at 83-87 mph, some with run, sharp and late breaking 71-72 mph breaking ball, same plane as fastball, good pitch, change up at 80 mph, arm side release,

Wyatt Sparks, RHP, Aurora, 2018
Sparks is a 6-foot-2 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class, Missouri State commit. Sparks has a lean frame and loose arm action, quick arm speed, high three quarters release, smooth tempo in delivery, accelerates down the mound, fastball at 80-86 mph, some late run, breaking ball has sharp and late action, 12-to-6 action, fastball arm speed, 67-72 mph, quick twitch athlete, had three walks and two strikeouts in his outing.

Noah Steele, RHP, Shawnee Mission East (KS), 2019
Steele is a 6-foot-4 215-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class.  Steele is a strong and big bodied pitcher with potential to a power arm, he has a high three quarters release, throws with some effort, aggressive down the mound, fastball ranged from 75-77 mph, breaking ball at 69-71 mph, 10-to-4 shape, curveball is still work in progress but shows signs of being a good pitch as he develops, change up at 73 mph, near fastball arm speed, some fade.

Zac Voss, RHP, Seckman, 2018
Voss is a 6-foot-1 167-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Voss is a projectable pitcher with loose high three quarters arm action, slender frame, repeatable mechanics, simple, high number of strikes, fastball at 74-77 mph, curveball has 11-to-5 movement, tight spin, late break, 69-70 mph, allowed two hits with two strikeouts and two walks in game action.

Alex Winscher, RHP, Fort Zumwalt West, 2018
Winscher is a 6-foot-1 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  Winscher has a high three quarters release, lean frame, clean arm action, lands in line to the plate, fastball at mostly 74-79 mph, some with late run, 55-60 mph breaking ball, 12-to-6 action, gradual break, change up at 63-65 mph, some with arm side sink, allowed one hit, two walks and a strikeout in game action.
