PBR MO Uncommitted Spotlight: Cole Evans

With the fall season coming to a close, our staff will take some time to highlight several uncommitted prospects over the next few weeks as we prepare to enter the baseball off-season and throughout. These players have all impressed our staff recently, whether it be at events, tournaments, or other up-close looks via our boots-on-the-ground coverage.
Today we'll shine some light on RHP Cole Evans (Timberland, 2023), a name that was a winner at two different PBR events this summer. Evans' productive circuit started at the St. Louis Open in June, where the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder finished our day off with a polished 'pen. He earned praise from our scouts, who had this to say about his performance there:
"...looked the part at Wednesday’s event, too. Evans pumped his low-spin, heavy fastball in at 81-83 mph from a deceptive ¾ arm slot, working east-to-west and around the zone. He threw a 68-69 mph slider for strikes on a consistent basis, and averaged 13 inches of horizontal movement on his high-60s changeup while effectively limiting spin."
Evans built off that look a few months later at our Missouri Fall Upperclass Games, an invite-only event that featured uncommitted 2023 and 2024 prospects from across the state with gameplay to pair. He, again, looked polished and poised on the rubber, hurling two clean innings while punching out a handful of batters in the process. Here's our nugget on him from after that event:
"...was another arm that threw two clean innings of work, punching out a handful of batters en route to a scoreless outing. At 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, Evans generates natural run and sink on his fastball from a ¾ slot, pounding the bottom of the zone at 80-82 mph. He effectively spun a high-60s slider off his fastball’s plane for strikes, especially to the arm-side of the plate, and also mixed in a low spin changeup at 73-76 mph."
