Player Spotlight: RHP Ethan Griswold (Liberty, 2015)

Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director

Ethan Griswold (Liberty, 2015) is a 6-foot-2, 175-poundRHP.  Griswold is a lanky, long-legged right-hander with a live arm.  His fastball was clocked at 82-87 mph from a ¾ arm slot.  He throws with a somewhat long slinging arm action that produces arm side run on his fastball.  Griswold throws across his body some resulting in him falling off the 1B side.  His 69-72 breaking ball was late and sharp at times – a potential plus pitch down the road.  Griswold help lead Liberty to the brink of a Final Four appearance in the Missouri State playoffs this spring.

Here is what is going on with Griswold and the recruiting process.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Griswold: Johnson County CC and Missouri Western are the most recent. There have been others that have shown interest.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Griswold: JCCC and MO West have both told me they want to get me on a visit in July.

PBR:  Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Griswold: I haven’t decided on what major I will want to study, I want a school that will help me succeed academically as well as grow as a player. Location isn’t an issue, I would like it to stay in the Midwest but it’s not necessary.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Griswold: As a team we went 28-8. We were Conference and District Champions. I pitched in 8 games, had a 4-2 record with 3.08 ERA with a K/G of 8.09 and a K/BB of 2.33

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Griswold: My goals for next year are to be able to help lead the team to a winning season and to have a strong run at state.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Griswold: Midwest Sluggers for the summer and I play on the KC Royals scout team during the fall.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Griswold: No, I do not.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Griswold: My ACT was 19 but I plan on taking it again as well as taking prep classes, and my GPA is 2.8 at the moment but I am going to work hard to get it as high as possible by the end of next year.
