Player Spotlight: RHP Gerrit Shirts (Jefferson City, 2016)

Gerrit Shirts (Jefferson City, 2016) is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed pitcher.  Shirts touched 87 mph at the Mid-Eastern Missouri Showcase in July and worked 83-84 mph at the Top Prospect Games on Aug. 12.

Shirts has a quick arm, and throws with some effort.  He has repeatable mechanics, with an over-the-top release.  Shirts is aggressive and challenges hitters.  He has a 11-to-5 curveball at 69-71 mph and a change up at 74-75 mph, with slight arm side release.

Shirts is playing with the Jefferson City Jays this fall and is currently planning campus visits.  Here is a look inside the recruiting of Gerrit Shirts

Shirts: Jefferson City Jays fall ball team
 
PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Shirts: No
 
PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Shirts: My ACT is 18 and my GPA is 3.1.
