Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director

Logan Vogel (Fatima, 2015) is an athletic 6-foot-0, 160-pound right-handed pitcher and right-handed hitting shortstop. This offseason he is preparing to lead Fatima to third straight Final Four finish in Missouri Class 3. In 2013, Vogel started at 2B on the state championship team, while seeing important innings on the mound.  In 2014, Fatima sported a 22-7 record, with a third place finish in the state tournament.

On the mound, Vogel has a high ¾ delivery with quick arm speed, and a loose arm action. Vogel throws with easy effort, has smooth rhythm, and stays level with his shoulders. At the Mid-Missouri Prospect ID in June, he showed a fastball velocity range of 73-80 MPH., a curveball at 57-63 MPH with 11/5 shape. Vogel also displayed a forkball that ranged from 65-69 with near fastball arm speed.

On the infield, he throws from a high ¾ arm slot with very accurate throws and a positional velo of 77 mph. At the plate, Vogel has an athletic setup with a short stride. He shows good balance through his swing and a level bat path. He produces gap-to-gap line drives with his swing, and has an exit velo of 80 MPH. Vogel runs a 7.20 60.

Below is a look inside the recruitment of Logan Vogel.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Vogel: Central Methodist University, Longview Community College, Missouri Valley College,

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Vogel: Missouri Valley College last September. Central Methodist two weeks ago. Longview last week and camp in January. Jefferson College coming up in February

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Vogel: I'm looking for a school reasonably close and has a good academic reputation.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Vogel: I batted .338 with 119 AB's last season. I hit four home runs, with 24 RBI. I scored 34 runs and stole 7 bases.  On the mound, I pitched 49.2 inning with a 7-2 record.  I had a 2.86 ERA with 46 strikeouts.

Fatima had a record of 22-10 last year. We made it to the final four for the second year in a row (two years ago we took first) but took third last year.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season? Name some players that will play a key role for Fatima in 2015.

Vogel: My goals are to get stronger and get more power in my play. I'm on a workout program now that I will be doing throughout the offseason. Our Fatima team has potential since we only lost 3 seniors since last year, we just can't get to cocky and need to go into every game thinking we're playing the best team out there. We need leadership from our third year varsity players such as Will Robertson (OF/P), Hunter Hennier (OF), Zach Hudspeth (C), and myself (SS/P).

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Vogel: I play for the American Legion Post 5 team that went to regionals last year during the summer. During the fall I played for the Sedalia Bombers.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Vogel: No

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Vogel: ACT: 23    GPA: 3.771
